This info may ease your mind further But ... I read somewhere, newer CPUs have power saving feature, something like it lowers the clock of the several cores to the deep sleep state and keep the few other cores clock rather normal, and OS does not assign tasks to deep sleep state core because the waking up deep sleep core takes some power.
