How to improve power supply on a switch?

Recommended Posts

I’m am pretty green, knowledge wise regarding networks, but I am learning.  I have TRENDnet TEG-S50g switch that’s DC input is rated at 5V /1A.

I am looking replacing the cheesy switching power supply with a linear supply.

I want something better the than the stock PS but still want something cost effective. I may buy a far better one down the road but I would like to hear that a linear supply will sound better.  Can anyone recommend one. Sometimes I’ve seen specs  on voltage, amperage and watts. With something like a switch do I have to pay attention to watts?
