The Computer Audiophile
Just now, AndrewPatrick said: I have been using JRMC to catalogue and play music, primarily in 44.1 FLAC, but ranging up to 128 DSF files, suing one central W-10 system and one remote listening area serviced by a NUC ID. My needs are repeated and uncomplicated -- basically playing music files exactly as they are recorded; Streaming unimportant at present; current library size: approx. 1 TB on NAS drive. My question: Are there software alternatives with simpler user interfaces (fewer technical options) that yield the same (or better) sound quality? My preference is for a NON-subscription system, but am willing to try alternatives! Thanks for your guidance. There are endless options. Given your current setup, you may want to try Audirvana because it could be a drop-in replacement or supplement to JRMC. The NUC could be used as a DLNA endpoint that Audirvana can send audio to.
