I read the specs  for the Solarflare forwards and backwards its, saying it uses 7 Watts, it amazes me how much heat can be generated by 7 Watts....

Previously I was using the Finisar 1321 (BTL=server park grade) version, but recently I changed to these TLX1475D3BTL

Result More focus, precision and dynamics, more natural sound YMMV.

The 1321 was already very good, and may be had on the cheap whereas I was unable to source the 1475 for under 100 bucks a piece....

Forgot to add: DO check compatibility with your gear, as the 1475 operates at 40Gb/s whereas the previous one maxxed out at 2.7Gb/s...both plenty fast but my previous switch did not cope with the 1475

you're right, 1475 is 10Gbe, dunno what happened there....bottom line stays the same, check your gear for compatibility first or find suitable equipment to go with it.

just check used switches etc, there are plenty to go around some....I found a 10Gbe switch in a day and it cost me half of retail.

 

I'd have to hear the 1421, I'm too far gone to dare say that something will sound the same without auditioning.

try Mouser or similar large electronic component supply companies, I received the 1475 within 3 days delivered straight from Texas.
