Background music for your friendly get-to-gethers and dinner parties

Recommended Posts

Hi friends,

I'm looking some full albums that would be good “accompaniment” music for my get togethers I host.  In exchange for your suggestions I will provide a few of my own top favorites....

Nils Frahm, Solo ... wonderful solo piano and unique sound on Klavins 2 story piano.

Charlie Haden & Pat Metheny,  Beyond The Missouri Sky

Eileen Farrel ... Tourch Songs

I just turn on MPR, if anything at all, and keep the volume pretty low. My Parents had a gathering at their house of the Chorale group and Orchestra they performed with, after their last spring performance, and they had zero background music, a few live performances though!

No electron left behind.

Cory Smythe's new album, Accelerate Every Voice has that wry, urbane sophistication that today's modern suburbanites crave, and can be a very hip conversation starter for those who are poised to be today's influencers, and yet still manages to be ambient AF...or some shit like that  😈 :

This thread reminds me of a dinner we had a year ago with friends (I like to throw ingredients in a casserole and pretend I am a decent cook, and share the result with good company).

We had just bought new speakers. We did not tell our friend, although they noticed the large floor-standers were gone, and replaced by monitors. I had selected some jazz, Oliver Nelson, Miles Davis, etc.

The heads of our friend turned constantly to the speakers... it was pretty obvious my cooking skills could not match the sq of the speakers 🙂
