OldBigEars
I use an ST i5, which has always been connected directly to my router in our rather warm utility room. No issues until I recently started using DSD upsampling. The STi5 became very hot when upsampling to 256 - so I moved it to another location around the house and simply plugged into an ethernet outlet. BTW I've now learned that DSD 128 is the max recommended for the Sti5 - but it still gets pretty hot. Would you expect the same SQ as compared to plugging into the router? Any advice would be appreciated. SalR406
I've never had any overheating problem with my sonicTransporter i5. For as long as I've owned it, it just does its job quietly and effectively. Having said that... I did add a heat sink. I can't say if it really makes any difference, but it makes me feel better. Fischer SK42-200-SA Thermal Pad Link to comment
