Interested by your feedback regards Richard I went from LPS 1.0 to 1.2 and then Sonore Signature LPS, then to Farads which were better. I replaced 4 Farads with a DC3 and that was also an improvement. I have never compared anything else to a DC since my DC4 is custom configured to power my audio server, and that would be an impossible comparison to make. Link to comment
Ricardo007
Thanks but what kind of improvment from Farad super 3 to SJ DC3? in which areas? (if you remember 😏!) Link to comment
Popular Post genvirt
Hello! I'm glad to share that now I'm happy owner of DC3 5 rail PSU by DIY parts from Sean Jacobs! First at all I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Sean Jacobs for his wonderful product and for his enormous support, help and patience to my endless questions Also, I want to THANK at @Elan120 for his support, hints and again for patience to me and of course many THANKS goes to @Nenon without his great thread this project surely wasn’t comes to life, so THANK YOU ALL and here is my story (sorry for my English). Well, my old audio PC ruled by Euphony OS starts to show signs of retiring and I decide to make a new one. I always knew that best way to get best from audio USB/Net cards this it to power them from external supply, but never used one. Till then I knew only two famous and noble manufactures of PSU – Paul Hynes and Teddy Pardo (here is the others of course, but I wanted as highest level as possible) For PH in additional to very high price (for me of course), I should be waiting for a long long time (as far I know now this is actually not possible at all), PH Design Ltd. was and option, but again it will came in two parts and again a bit exceed my budget, so I leave this too, and Teddy Pardo products only support low current solution and for my application needs It should be 5 rails with one rail of high current and all this in one box (I've a free room restriction in my rack, so multiple PSU not were too good for me). While looking for best possible solution that would be able to compare to very good branded stuff for digital playback, I bumped to the Nenon's thread (Building a DIY Music Server) There I noticed pointing to thread of Elan120 with his DC3 SJ PSU project (best SJ PSU building tutorial I think Building A Linear Power Supplies for HQPlayer Server and DIY DC cables DIY Cables After contacting Sean, I understood that his end product queue is long enough too, and 5 rail solution is possible, but can exceed my budget for sure. As I figured already from Elan120's thread that SJ DC3 PSU was possible for DIY, so after a while I decided challenge myself and to give to this project a chance. First at all I build my new audio PC (here a couple of worlds about Audio PC Build) In parallel I ordered all what I need for PSU build from Sean, and from places that Sean, Nenon and Elan120 point me to. As Nenon suggested I used Mandorf Silver/Gold wire where it was applicable – this add me to costs, but finally I think it worth it. And one fine day the project began Actually, it took me a bit too long as it should be, but being not too much experienced with such projects and soldering iron I held in my hands very long time ago, so I took my time. This week I finally finished to build all cables (DC, EPS, ATX) and powered PSU for the first time with PC connected… WOW, yes, that what I could to pronounce when I played first track The sound was huge! Detailed with endless beauty and naturalness for my ears. I even not expected such effect. I honestly can say that it was worth an effort It's for sure will take a couple of months to fully break in (including new cables), but I'm believe. that if no matter which audio component sounds good to me from beginning (out of the box) – this is a great one and further after it can be only better. Popular Post Davidny
This video gives a good description of what a DC4 can do for a Roon Nucleus and switch. This fits my experience which started fitst with a DC3, and I subsequently upgraded to a DC4. Nenon, NanoSword, genvirt and 2 others 1 3 1 Link to comment
