NOMBEDES
Does not a better system emphasize the bad parts of a bad recording badder? .....Anyway, this discussion demonstrates that the serious hobbyist can enjoy "home remastering" to his heart's content. This is a good example of the endless joy audio-heads can find. My answer is that it isn’t a better system if bad recordings will sound worse than on a bad system . A good audio system will not mask noise like a bad system, but all other SQ aspects will sound better. The record will still sound bad on a great audio system thou, only less bad. Agree. Less bad is better than bad bad. I have to say, however, that the technical witchcraft that some members go through to "home remaster" marginal recordings is way above my ability or interest. I just want to push a button and listen to my music. As far as bad recordings go, I have various versions of the Stone's Exile on Main Street (including some very expensive Japanese flat transfers) and I find ALL of them sound like they were recorded in a stinky, humid basement some where in the South of France. Maybe its just me. Audiophile Neuroscience and Summit 1 1 In any dispute the intensity of feeling is inversely proportional to the value of the issues at stake ~ Sayre's Law Link to comment

(I recently traveled in a friends Audi A8, it was almost silent, quite uncanny) Indeed, it has been argued that some cars are so quiet that they are dangerous, because they insulate the driver from an appropriate sensation of speed. Yet, I had an Audi A7 that had terrible road noise. Yes i know there is a $$$ difference between a 7 and an 8! My AllRoad is probably noisier still but, even in my daughter's S95 with its Burmester system, I still cannot listen in a car. NOMBEDES
I never liked the speed adjusted volume. I found it distracting. I STILL have a 2001 Mercedes with this feature. My wife will not get rid of the damn thing so I can put a nice Porsche in the garage. My life sucks.
