I get duplicates from the iTunes store

When I purchase a song and/or album from the iTunes store, the file arrives and there is also a iCloud file shown?

I usually delete the file in my library and then download the iCloud file.  Does this make sense and why does it happen?

I don't know why the OP is getting two copies; just delete one of them. 

Thanks Kirk, that is what I have been doing.  I spoke with Apple tech support and they said it was not a bug.  It happens on most but not all purchases.  Strange
