Popular Post The Computer Audiophile
From email: Hi Everyone,Weird times out there, eh? We hope you and your loved ones are all safe and secure and actively listening to the advice of your public health officials...it's the only way that we can all get through this thing...and we are all in this thing together, whether we like it or not.In the meantime, we have some new music for you to listen to and hopefully provide you with a small distraction. It's a set of songs that we've been working on for the past year and which we were set to launch when our worlds turned upside down. The plan was to release a very limited edition, audiophile double-album made up of a re-mastered, re-cut version of All That Reckoning along with a second disc that contains the new music, Ghosts. We have the test pressings and they sound beautiful. But, as you all know, logistics are difficult right now, so we are delaying the release of the vinyl (there will be no CD) until the world returns to something resembling normal. In the meantime we have decided to release the new music on streaming sites everywhere. It's an intense set of songs, but that's probably not a surprise to you....read on if you are interested in the genesis of Ghosts.****In July of 2018 we released our album All That Reckoning. Two months later our mother died and we realized that there was more reckoning still to come. Ghosts is the result of that realization; a suite of songs revolving around grief, pain, fear, anxiety, beauty; a set of songs examining the complexity of emotions that subsume us after losing a parent. We were writing and creating these songs while we were touring ATR and as they took shape it became clear to us that they belonged as part of, or at least as an addendum to, the songs that make up All That Reckoning. They deal with the ultimate reckoning, the reckoning that comes with the death of a loved one and the reassessing that one goes through as one tries to process such a loss. The concept behind this project was to present it as a two disc vinyl-album set. All That Reckoning and Ghosts work best as two bodies of work, reflecting off of each other, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of men....so in the meantime enjoy, enjoy, enjoy. You can stream Ghosts here (the music is being added to more streaming sites every day): I can only find it on tidal - https://tidal.com/album/134653992 Josh Mound, skipspence and 4est 1 2 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Thanks Chris! Nothing "wrong" with Roon and no big mystery here: Roon doesn't update the streaming service database on a constant basis. So it can take a few days once it is streaming before it shows up in Roon. And if, for whatever reason, the album isn't in the last database dump from Tidal to Roon, it won't show up in Roon until it is. Unless you're lucky with the timing, new releases will always be delayed a bit before they show up in Roon. Aside: the album still isn't listed at Qobuz US. AudioDoctor
Is this not the Entire album on Qobuz in 24/44? edit: no it isn't, lol, never mind. The Computer Audiophile 1 No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
I think that no matter how Roon is supposed to work, if I "Favorite" an album in the Tidal App, Roon should know that and add it to its library so I can listen to it via Roon. No electron left behind. Link to comment

TubeLover
I find it very sad, and also very difficult to imagine, in a business sense, that their intention was to release this ONLY on vinyl, with no cd availability. Since, at the moment, at least, there appears to be no hi-rez release, they have lost out on the cd I would have purchased to support them. I realize that streaming is already the future, and I make great use of Tidal, and hopefully Qobuz, eventually, assuming they and Roon Labs can ever work out the issue I've had for months now. But cd's still sell, and at many, many times the rate of vinyl. Releasing vinyl only, on a new release, is simply accepting that the artist will get only the tiniest fraction that streaming companies give them, and the also almost insignificant amount of sales that vinyl truly generates to old school vinyl collectors and the misguided millennial's and their hip $250.00 all in one record destroyers. Not to mention that generation are certainly not very likely to be buying anything from the Cowboy Junkies! JC Urs 1 Link to comment

TubeLover
Listened to it on Qobuz last night. Initial impressions are very good, though there may be some inconsistencies in the quality of certain tracks. JC Link to comment
bobbmd
Found it on TIDAL from my iPad on desktop app but not on Qobuz—but this happens frequently with Qobuz different offerings depending on if I use the desktop app either from my Mac mini or iPad and always very different on ROON wonder why? Will check from my Mac mini on TIDAL Qobuz ROON and A+3.5 later today-am actually going to play golf this morning NY has opened the golf courses! Link to comment
AudioDoctor
You guys, I have checked in Roon, in A+, and in the Qobuz app, I don't see Ghosts in Qobuz anywhere. I have it in Tidal though. @TubeLover Are you SURE its in Qobuz? No electron left behind. Link to comment

I had added five straight albums to my library while in Qobuz, on Roon, this was the sixth, and I missed that it was a Tidal option only. I don't feel that Roon should actually show Tidal options, when you have specifically selected Qobuz. JC Link to comment
AudioDoctor
When you search in Roon, it shows everything. It differentiates them when you select "Versions" There is also a symbol in the lower left of the album cover, or two of them if the album is available in both. No electron left behind. AudioDoctor
Weirdly, the first 4 songs on Ghosts are downloaded as one giant song rather than 4 individual songs, which leads to Roon numbering them like this: No electron left behind. Link to comment
