When building our house, the developer installed the AudioTron. Apple eventually replaced this device. Sorry, I never took a picture of it. Link to comment

My first ever foray into better than normal audio playback from a computer had a Turtle Beach audio player card in it that had a connection to take digital connections straight from the CD player/burner in the computer, completely bypassing the internal motherboard pathways. Among other thing, it had a better DAC in it, etc... No electron left behind. Link to comment
