SMS-200 Tidal via MPD/DLNA

Recommended Posts

Hi

I got my SMS-200 the other day with the latest Eunhasu software (4.7). When I add my credentials to the MPD settings, Tidal does not work in the Kazoo endpoint. I get the message "Service Login or communication failure". I know the credentials work when I use them in other apps.

What am I missing?

See my question in Dec 2019 and follow the discussion. It does not work for Qobuz and I think also not for Tidal. You will have to use an App like Mconnect or BubbleUpnp : these have a working connection to Qobuz and Tidal, Sms200 does not.

Check my profile for my audiosystem.

Do you have bubbleupnp running on your NAS? Kazoo requires Open Home capability (that bubbleupnp provides).

The latest MPD/DLNA version have OpenHome support build in and should be able to connect to Tidal without the need for BubbleUPnP. I ran that setup on my mRendu. But I had to put my stereo in storage. When I set it up again last Tuesday with the SMS-200, that set up was suddenly not working anymore.

Found the workaround. In Eunhasu start up BubbleUPnP server and configure it as a OpenHome point. Linn Kazoo and Lumin will then happily serve you a connection to Tidal. Of course, the downside is there is extra software running on the device. But given the issue with UPMpdCli software, there is no other way in mRendu or SMS-200 if you want to use Kazoo.

It may be worth contacting SOtM to see if they can update upmpdcli to the latest version (1.4.7). The release notes mention a fix for issues with Kazoo on version 1.4.6, but it's possible the same Kazoo issues are present in 1.4.5 version currently installed on your SMS-200.

BTW, upmpdcli's OpenHome control point online music streaming service connectivity issue identified around November last year was a Qobuz only access problem. Qobuz decided to tighten up on the security of their API & revoked access to a particular developer's API credentials that had become common knowledge and used unofficially by upmpdcli. So nothing to do with TIDAL and its access was unaffected by that particular issue.

We are far more united and have far more in common with each other than things that divide us.

We can call in this thread @MayfromSOtM to give some help

Her last response here was in august 2018 it seems. So, I contacted her directly.
