Bob, Thanks for the effort. In the old days of computer audio, I used JPlay a lot (still have a current license) but like you, I just cannot consider giving up Roon. And, with the Rendu series, I would not go back to a single machine system.

Is there USB card from different manufacturere for more reasonable price? Let say around 100$?

Would a 10Gigabit Ethernet output better the JCAT NET FEMTO card? Are there maybe even 10Gigabit PCI cards available that would host SPF+ transceiver? From my understanding the limitations on allowed jitter are very strict at 10Gigabit network devices which seems to be beneficial for us audiophiles.

I would suggest that we cannot say a specific card will do better or worse.  the JCAT cards are very good if paired up with great power supplies.   

 

Cards with SFP modules (optical and otherwise) have been discussed here on the forums.  Try a search.
