I don't know what they are talking about... :)

But the Kagura amps, I believe, are SET 211s and put out 50W:

I don't know either, but I am willing to trust that they're telling the truth about the Pacific Balanced amps being SET and having a 40 watt output.

So jealous. Kagura and Avantgarde are a dream system of mine.

I have heard that the Kaguras are not as transparent as the Ongaku.

SME 20/3 + SME V + Dynavector XV-1s or ANUK IO Gold > vdH The Grail or Kondo KSL-SFz + ANK L3 Phono

Honestly, if you get some Avantgardes, their sensitivity is around 105 dB/Wm so frankly you will never play more than 1 watt or so... :)

That's Angela Lisi at angie (at) americansound (dot) com.

When I wanted to listen to these I went on Audiogon and asked for help. An audiophile in New Jersey offered to have me over so I rented a car and drove to Princeton to listen to them. Even in NYC, it is hard to listen to the bigger AG. That's even with the AG distributor being NY based at the time (2013).

AS it turns out, the amp I went with puts out 3.5 watts from a pair of 2A3 tubes and was simply stunning when I had the chance to listen to it. So the Avant Garde speakers are right up this amps alley, so to speak.

Thanks for the info, I will send that email and try to listen to them once all the current madness dies down.
