Boy Howdy
Folks: My iMac won't load XLD, stating that this is because it cannot verify the author. Haven't ripped in a long while (since Tidal actually 8^) so I need an alternative. Please advise of an alternative or where to get XLD that my iMac will load. Thanks, Mike Link to comment

Samuel T Cogley
Was hoping for a bit of back and forth with the OP, but there are ways to allow execution even in Catalina. To temporarily disable the security feature in Catalina, type this in a terminal window (there are ways in the GUI in previous versions of macOS): sudo spctl --master-disable Now, launch XLD. To reinstate the app blocking, type: sudo spctl --master-enable Now you can continue to use XLD as before Link to comment
Boy Howdy
Sam: I am running 10.11.6 El Capitan on my music iMac. I'll try your suggestion because Im familiar with XLD. Thanks, Mike eriucuco: Thanks for the suggestion. Please see above. 8^) Mike Link to comment
Samuel T Cogley
@Boy Howdy have a look here: https://www.macworld.com/article/3094865/how-to-run-apps-that-are-not-from-the-app-store-in-macos-sierra.html This mentions El Capitan. It should be what you need. Link to comment
deathdisco
Have you tried right clicking on the application and and selecting open hat way? Sounds silly, but this usually gives you the option to open applications by non verified authors. I haven’t tested this on Catalina, but it works for me on Mojave. Link to comment
nugget
The right-click, select “open” technique works in Catalina also. I feel this is generally a better solution than disabling the quarantine protections. Link to comment
nicholas brandon
I use Catalina 10.15.7 and I managed to download XLD and when I open the fioe and get to the .dmg file on opening that there is an XLD icon which when clicked on opens and works normally as before... but every time I want use XLD I have to start from the .dmg disk image. I've no idea why this works but it seems to. nicholas brandon 1 Link to comment

nicholas brandon
yes, but it wouldn't work, I had to do as I said above, but it's not really a problem.... just a few extra clicks. Link to comment
GregWormald
I'm still on Mojave but I did find that the latest XLD upgrade had serious issues while the previous version continued to work flawlessly. That might be worth a try. Link to comment
AnotherSpin
XLD on two various macs, one with updated Catalina, other with High Sierra. XLD updated to the newest version on both, installed properly and works well. Did you download XLD from the proper source? Try https://tmkk.undo.jp/xld/index_e.html Link to comment

Anyway I downloaded from the link and it turned out to be the same version I have that works...so who knows what was going on. Link to comment

nicholas brandon
I have downloaded it again and now it works, As for Mac not being able to open the file. If you control click on the icon and then choose open, a window should open asking if you want to open an unverified app and if you click yes, it should open. Link to comment
