ShawnC
One of the greatest drummers ever. In my head he is the greatest. I started playing drums because of him. I wanted to learn how he created all those great beats and fills. Fortunate for my parents I was no good at, picked up the guitar and tried to learn Alex Lifeson solos, that turned out a little better. Almost every guy I know, has at least one time in their life, air drummed to Tom Sawyer. Roon will be queued up with Rush all weekend. R.I.P. Gus141
The first Rush concert I ever went to was Rush’s “Signals” tour (April 1st, 1983, CT). I was too young to go to the “Moving Pictures” concert since the closest venue was 2 hours away and I didn’t have my license yet. I will always remember seeing Rush live over the years, primarily because of Neil Peart. The greatest drum soloist of all time. Thanks for making those nights magical Neil. Rest in Peace. TubeLover
An absolutely brilliant drummer, and incredible talent. What a shame that what he had to offer the world was shortened by illness. A terrible loss to music. JC Cebolla 1 Link to comment

Popular Post PorkChop
I've always admired Neal Peart for living a life well lived. After he became a rock star it would be so easy to simply coast on prior accomplishments and enjoy a decadent, lazy life of fame. But no; he was always pushing himself to evolve his craft and acquire new knowledge and skills. Losing your daughter and wife in the course of about a year would crush most people into self-pitying zombies. Neal rides for tens of thousands of miles all over the world to clear his head, then writes a book about it. Everything I've read of his prose and books is so thoughtful and occasionally very touching. If there is an afterlife, I hope his spirit is in a great place free from the pain. Cancer, I hate you. roberto2
I agree, one of the greatest drummers ever! Rush are my best loved rock band since I was 16 years old... Three great musicians, Alex, Geddy and Neil! Three giants in their respectives instruments. Cebolla 1 Link to comment
mkrzych
What a loss, what a great drummer and what a rock and roll trio! RIP Neil.
