And what are your findings comparing these? Yes, I did. My Sean Jacobs DC4 LPS had more depth and more air. The Taiko solution was faster and more transparent. That was in the very early stage of testing. I felt like the Taiko was super transparent and it would be easy to voice to our liking with an unregulated LPS. It reacts really nice to component changes, which makes it easy to voice. It would also be a better option to fit within the budget. The state of the art DC4 power supply from Sean Jacobs would be close to $5K for a 20-30A rail. We can explore that down the road and compare to an unregulated LPS feeding the Taiko ATX. We can also test a SR7 against the unregulated LPS. But the unregulated LPS would be much more affordable, and when tweaked properly works really really good. I found this to be the best way to go for this build given our budget. And I don't feel like it is a compromise in any way. The cost of the parts in this unregulated LPS would be more expensive that the parts inside many regulated linear power supplies we have been happy to buy. I am guessing they would be around $1,000, give or take a little. Believe it or not, not many products under $10K have parts worth $1,000 inside. BTW, a DC4 has parts way over $1,000 inside, so I was not referring to that. In any case the Taiko ATX would be a major part of this DIY recipe. That's one thing I am quite certain about. I hope you guys realize what I am doing here. I am licensed to make Sean Jacobs LPS's for the NA market. But I am not pushing this solution. Instead I am doing something cheaper that works really good. And I am not keeping this a secret, opening an audio business, and trying to monetize on it like most people in the audio industry do when they get to that point! I am bringing this with complete transparency to the DIY community. No hidden secrets, full transparency. I will post exactly how to make this unregulated LPS, what parts I used, how much they costs, etc. I have also found people to build this unregulated LPS for those who can't do it as a DIY. My conditions were only two: 1. To be build to my standards. 2. No crazy markup fees. A flat fee of $500 is what I have in mind. So you pay the parts + $500. I think that's quite fair in the world of high-end audio. I will do a few myself just to go through the process and get some feedback. A state of the art LPS like the DC4 might become an option for powering up a USB card, network card (if we even use one), etc. for those who can stretch their budget, but we will get to that point down the road. Mixing power supply ground planes can lead to strange things happening. I am currently feeding my computer with an unregulated LPS + Taiko ATX and my JCAT XE card with a DC4 for those who are wondering. That might be one of the (more expensive) options. There will be an option without expensive LPS in the mix. But let's wait until the Taiko USB comes to the market, and we'll find out what works best. Dev
it will be very useful if a single rail DC4 (reg+recap+transformer) can fit inside the Taiko DIY chassis to power the JCAT XE, along with other unregulated power supply parts and DC-ATX. The JCAT has a molex connector which can be used to power it internally. Possible or is it too tight and can't handle the heat dissipation ? Link to comment

And/or did you compare both scenarios above with the same results? Up until now, it was understand by many that using a single rail "could" result in more audible noise, as more components share the same rail and could contaminate each other, hence the recent uptick in ATX LPSs with multiple dedicated and isolated rails. Very excited for the SR7T / Unregulated supply testing I will conduct in the next few months. I am wondering if the results will be similar to what you've described 😎. With only 10a on the 19v rail, I would be more comfortable powering the CPU directly and the other components through the 19v rail + Adapter. I don't want to obscure responses to Exocer's good questions, but my understanding was the tech used in the Taiko moved switching noise out of the audible range -- all the more then the benefits of an SMPS, as opposed to staying the course with an ATX supply. I'd like to ask someone to very briefly explain why they think non-regulated DC will work in the DIY server (apart from budget or whether they like it better or not). Link to comment
