In fact ALL Wilsons, starting with the very first ones. (except the red ones, you just don't notice them in a listening room, I think @The Computer Audiophile will agree ) Always reminded me of: Like I said - ALL Wilsons.. The original WATT price (1981) was $ 4400! (introduced while the most expensive monitor speaker in the US cost $1600)! Remember Marlon Brando in 'Apocalypse Now' repeating 'horror... horror..'.? mansr, The Computer Audiophile, semente and 2 others 3 2 Link to comment

Popular Post sphinxsix
Last but not least.. Dahlquist DQ-10 There is a good reason why their grill looked like this: BTW the evolution of their base is IMO a fascinating record of the triumph of a good design (the above one still being my favorite..) semente and mansr 2 Link to comment

Was this comment caused by the fact that you rarely have a chance to see loudspeakers that are uglier than yours? The REAL problem with Wilsons is that they SOUND so GOOD and at the same time LOOK so BAD.. lucretius, The Computer Audiophile and Superdad 3 Link to comment

Popular Post sphinxsix
@The Computer Audiophile Chris, I can't stand the fact that your new speakers have been the object of jokes on this thread. IMO you deserve good looking speakers and I think many here will not only agree but would also be willing to pitch in to get you some decent looking transducers. As for your Wilsons - I think you don't have to worry - you can always donate them to some poor kid who only knows the sound of his cell phone speaker.. Hereby I kindly ask everyone who is ready to pitch in to upvote this post as a sign of his willingness to take part in this project. The Computer Audiophile and sphinxsix 2 Link to comment

sphinxsix
Going slightly in the direction of design speakers. The Soundwave Speakers designed by furniture designer Matt Dennis. SnowMEN speakers by Dirk Vander Kooij have 3D printed cabinets. Link to comment
