How can Vinyl still sound good compared to digital?

I could mention an even greater horror 😝, as a playback setup, that I fooled around with for a bit, that used CDs a couple of years ago - an Aldi Blu-Ray player as transport, HDMI to an Aldi LCD TV, and then through the rough speakers below the screen; this was prior to them making sure you can't hear anything, by pointing the speakers in the wrong direction, of course ... but I have sympathy for ST, and don't want to give him more grief than he can bear 😆.

And who is giving out the accreditation to be qualified as audiophiles?  I need one badly.

Even an entry-level DAC connected with whatever USB cable you've got laying around is going to sound better than almost every CD player out there.

Really??

I used  Cal Audio for decades, then switched to the Oppo 205 2 years ago.....

They both seem as good as a good DAC, maybe not an xlnt DAC

It is what I have observed so it must be true. 👺

I know a few under 44s that buy vinyl. Two of them collect vinyl but don't even own a turntable (they stream free Spotify), another uses one of those plastic briefcase turntables with a single wideband driver, one bought a malfunctioning hi-fi cabinet from the early 60s at a charity store...

A speaker which requires a notch filter to sound flat but doesn't have one will not sound like a flat speaker.

How can you tell that it doesn't sound flat (through listening)?

You have to compare it with other speakers and use recordings that are meant to sound realistic.

Ideally you measure.

I don’t want my speakers to sound flat 😉. They should measure flat between 20 and 20 KHz thought.

I'm curious what the equip. setup was for your observation?

were they budget CD players for example?

Now you're just ruining my joke...

I don’t know what you want to say by your last post. I guess it is something funny so I say yes 😎.

Simply a play on sharp=musical step up and flat=musical step down. :)
