I don't like clicking and waiting for it to respond while it thinks about it and spins up my fans. What kind of a machine are you using? I use Brave part of the time, and on some gear mostly 5 years old it pops open and loads pages so fast I can tell no difference vs other browsers. It certainly doesn't load the machine and spin up fans. I've used it on a very old (11 year old Dell laptop) and it while many processes will get its fan to humming along Brave browser isn't one of them. In any case, Firefox is probably the browser for your use for a little protection. And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. I can use Brave or anything else on a 2013 Macbook Pro with 8 gb of RAM with no delays or other problems. I'm using High Sierra as the latest version breaks a couple of my DAW and recording interface units from working. Waiting on that to get fixed by those companies. The Computer Audiophile
I use Brave as well on my MacBook Pro (2106), iMac 5K (2012), and iPhone 11 Pro. It’s the fastest browser I’ve used and it actually has features I like, such as bookmark sync across my devices. esldude 1 Founder of Audiophile Style | My Audio Systems Link to comment

Google know more about you than you know yourself. They know where you go, what you do there, how many times you go, where you go afterwards. They know when your planning a holiday, a new purchase, when you or your kids are sick, what’s wrong with them. They know how academic you are and they can probably even judge within reason how smart you are. They also have a pretty good idea about your tastes, including the food you like to cook and eat. They own your photographs and videos, your e-mails and any files you sent. Need I go on? They don't know all of that about me - only some of it; and much of what they do know I regularly erase. You can do that; they just don't make it very obvious. So they know quite a bit, at least sometimes. At the very least, I've prevented them from knowing about all my web surfing, and I don't get targeted advertising. AudioDoctor
Strange, I was using it this morning to browse and it was getting slower and slower and slower while every time I clicked a link or browsed to a new page my fans would get spun up, by Brave according to iStat menu. Dear Firedog, Actually my post was more a rave against Google that a balanced reply to you. Sorry for that On the other hand, I wasn’t far wrong. Deleting stuff once its hit their servers is already too late....they got it and according to their terms, they own it. Link to comment

I'm not talking about pictures and files. You can delete browsing history, location history, app usage, etc. AFAIK, it is actually deleted. That’s the source of big data, how they know how many people visit say hi-fi sites and where they go afterwards, how long they remain, how many layers they penetrate and so on. When you set up a website you can obtain all this data as part of a Google Data contract. Of course its all anonymised but Google have all the IP addresses whence it came Link to comment

Brave or Firefox will do that. Yes, I realize that which is why I mostly don't use Chrome or Google search. I have their "store data" functions turned off in my account. Unfortunately, for mobile use I still sometimes find Google apps indispensable. The Gmail calendar widget is the only one that works and displays the way I'd like it to on my Android phone. All the Gmail replacement apps with privacy protections can't compete with it. They are either web pages (less convenient) or the display UI isn't up to snuff, IMO. I think it is unworkable at scale. And you can opt right out of it. I'd forgotten it was there. The intent is to let you reward web sites you visit anonymously and directly instead of indirectly via large volume advertising with tracking tacked onto the ads. https://support.brave.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018123651-How-do-I-use-Brave-Rewards- And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. firedog
The better idea may be the one that's been floated lately to setup a system where you are compensated for your data: you can choose to make it available and be paid, or choose not to and not be paid.
