Fine choices all, John, although I think he actually goes by Geddy Lee! And you stole a bit of my thunder, and as good as jack Bruce, and some others were, in the world of rock, no one could touch my all time bass hero, who we sadly lost, far too soon, a couple years back: Chris Squire of Yes Link to comment

I had the chance to meet him, and actually hang a while, talking music, while at a party over 30 years ago. JC christopher3393 1 Link to comment
Popular Post TubeLover
I don't believe anyone has yet mentioned Felix Pappalardi of Mountain. While also a highly rated producer and rock singer, he played a phenomenal bass. He tragically died after being shot by his wife with a derringer he had given her as a gift previously. Following that, no less than Jack Bruce acquired his bass guitar to play onstage, thereafter. Mick Jagger once called him "The Smartest Man in Rock and Roll." He was widely noted as a legendary pioneering rock bassist. I'll never forget hearing he and Leslie West and the rest of Mountain performing an amazing ten minute version of "Theme From An Imaginary Western" back in my youth.
