Full streaming capabilities in Carplay for the iOS app would be nice.

Any time table for this, David? It seems somewhat peculiar that a streaming service is not able to have music streamed when used in a car. Not mentioning the competitors, but, well, they have had this feature for quite a while now. 🤷‍♂️

I would be happy if Qobuz would order composers in a playlist by their last name rather than their first. This is easy to deal with but it's an extra step and puzzling as to why it wasn't noticed and dealt with.

Thanks for this feedback, I keep it to explore it.

David, may I add support for the suggestion. One problem arising from sorting composers by given name is that although the surname may remain identical country to country the given name is often translated to the local equivalent by the issuing record company.

So although Liszt's first name was Ferencz (or Ferenc in modern Hungarian) many ( most) recordings refer to him as Franz. Or Tchaikowsky ( already a problem in converting from Cyrillic to Latin alphabet) is he Pyotr, Piotr or Peter? Dvorak , is he Anton or Antonin? One can go on.

Of course there are exceptions and Bach, for example,  has to be sorted both by surname and given name ( or at least initials) to distinguish the various composing members of the dynasty.

When going offline and able to see only local music, the IOS app only shows you "the original" playlist imported. If you've added more tracks to the playlist and imported them, they are only accessible from the single track view, but not from the playlist itself. This is fixed only when I delete the local copy and import the playlist again. Is this tracked/planned to fixe?

David, I still have issues with your "nouveautés" section.

I understand that Qobuz needs to promote certain albums, but it would be helpful if there'd be a possibility to sort the new releases by date.

For example, nearly half of the first 14 albums that show up under "Tous les nouveautes" are older relatively speaking, e.g. you have Jarrett's Munich album and Julia Hülsmann, both were released nearly 3 month ago. It would be fantastic if there'd be a selector or sort function that really only shows the new releases of the week or month.

I am guessing from your reference to " nouveautés" that you have an account with the French service. If so that would presumably be outside of David's remit for the USA service as releases are territorial and differ from service to service. However your issue has also been occurring on the UK service too but for classical repertoire. Both UK jazz and pop/rock have been showing correctly in this week's new releases whereas the new releases for classical over much of December were a mixture of albums from across the entire year of 2019 ( back to last January) with the actual new releases missing.

Both the France and UK services are run from Paris. I wonder if some re-training of a person was required ? It seemed to me that , for a period of around three weeks, an incorrect file was being uploaded to the "Discover" page. I have had a dialogue with customer services in Paris about this and the error has now been corrected - at least for UK classical.

The desktop app  shows the release date in new releases if you hover your cursor over the album artwork . The list can be expanded by clicking the "See all new releases" link up to 3 times. So you can then see all of this week's and the entire month's.

@David Craff Hey, just wanted to let you know some more of my beloved Kraut Rock seems to be showing up. It would be ideal if you could convince Bureau B to let go of more of their titles as they seem to have the bulk of rarities. Just sticking it out there, I'm sure they have their biz plan though which might be forcing me to buy their goods vs streaming it.

Happy new year and hope all is well. Charles

Yes I have a French account. Hopefully David can transmit the message to the right team.

I suspect so.  If anything Qobuz' response to problems has been gracious for having them pointed out.  This UK example is what we have come to expect.

@David Craff I would like a feature to be enabled that would allow for moving album/tracks/artists around within the favorites section like how you can modify the order within a playlist with drag and drop or some other way that makes sense. That way as new/older albums become favorites then one could put them in any order they wanted within their saved list(s). Thank you.

Hi,

We're here on a special case. When the novelty period is low, usually in the summer or at the end of the year, we complete the novelty section with slightly older albums in order to have some content. But the rest of the year the new releases are fresh.

  • 3 weeks later...

Will try Qobuz soon, but I wondered, does it have complete comprehensive credits with click-through like Tidal?  https://tidal.com/credits  Amazon Ultra HD generally has only performer, composer, producer, and no click-through.  After using it on Tidal I don't think I'd want to be without it on another service.  It gives a complete credit discography history of a participant when clicking on their name, and the credits include more participants for a recording than I've seen anywhere.

My wish list:

─remember scroll position when moving between pages

─allow to select tracks across groupings using the shift and control keys

─the ability to show all tracks in a release with a single click

These would really improve usability and make a great service even better. This and more albums, of course.

@David Craff

In the "label" view, would it be possible to add controls to sort by different criteria, like release date? I'd like to, for example, see the latest release first.

In fact, consider this request to apply to any result list. Some views do have a "sort by" control, while others don't. Is this in the roadmap?

Hi,

Yes this is in the roadmap. We would like to have a bette label page with more feature and information.

Hi @David Craff, any idea what the odds are of Qobuz showing the R128 dynamic range value for albums? I’m guessing all the albums would have to be scanned, but outside of that technical hurdle, is there any impediment from the labels stopping you from doing this?

Hi

For the moment, we only have the volume leveling information for track. All other information need a catalog scan.

We does not have the Dynamic Range or the BPM in our back log but we have thinking about them
