As a predominantly classical listener I stray off the Universal/Sony distribution releases into smaller labels quite often.  Do you have any thoughts on the idea of, favorites can get quite crowded and appear to be a source of strong opinions/contention, unobtrusive means of leading listeners back to label landing pages?  (Edit: I'm perfectly willing to hang my head if this already exists, all too common an occurrence. Also I use the Windows desktop app.)

I realize the recent question about searching popular artists contrasts with my own personal use.  Which is to say I ignore almost everything else to delve into a select number of catalog where I can spend a month or more never leaving [plucks largish number out of the air]10 label landing pages.  The closest use to favoriting is continuing an album loaded in the player.

My request is to consider if this use case would improve your service for enough customers to justify a subtle change.  Judging by the fact I could see every new release worth exploring posted within a three day period here. I have some large doubts this is how many people behave when confronted with access to everything and more pouring in by the second.  x-D

By no means am I attempting to overrule the previous poster with a contrary set of ideas.

I'd like to see more features that continue to set Qobuz apart rather than promote homogeneity with competitors (that is already at a startlingly high rate).  There are only so many steps between syncopated instead of curated.

When contemporaries in the entertainment field have a great amount of similitude. One star fading eclipses the fate of many others.  👥

Building on my post above.

I was sitting down listening to a premium newer release last night that includes a video disc in the physical package.  Not overly common I'll admit.  Often enough we find ourselves looking for ways to deal with a BD or other format a release was only offered in though.  When you get into listening to works that are or could be staged the field broadens considerably.

So yes, I'm suggesting the addition of video playback when warranted.  Maintaining the same high quality sound of course.

Is it convenient to set up a relay here through @The Computer Audiophile containing a form we could use to report small issues?  Missing or incorrect artwork, typos effecting a small area, general low importance errors that can be put into a neat pile directly atop the correct desk.

My suspicion is a large number of us are weeding out petty mistakes in our own areas of expertise too small to bother with otherwise.

Both the France and UK services are run from Paris. I wonder if some re-training of a person was required ? It seemed to me that , for a period of around three weeks, an incorrect file was being uploaded to the "Discover" page. I have had a dialogue with customer services in Paris about this and the error has now been corrected - at least for UK classical.

I suspect so.  If anything Qobuz' response to problems has been gracious for having them pointed out.  This UK example is what we have come to expect.

Where's this feature?

Something tells me Monday morning is not going to be devoted to skimming the forums or casually checking up on unpublished new releases this week.  If you are a true fan my suggestion is to send Qobuz an email and please be patient.  :)

The option I referred to is better left for non-time critical additions.

Specifically for iPhone and Android, I would be very interested to see a basic DSP functionality. Say just 5-6 parametric EQ settings and an L/R time delay and level adjustment.

If I’m listening through my phone I’m often streaming to non-ideal systems - e.g., car, kitchen, etc. Some simple measurement with REW for example, can allow calculation of PEQ parameters that can go a huge way to plaster over issues and make non ideal systems far more listenable.

If this was too much development, it looks like there are some PEQ AU3 plugins, for iPhone at least. Could the Qobuz app support these?

USB Audio Player Pro equivalent on iPhone?

Native app or desktop EQ is the antithesis of what a service like Qobuz could ever hope to provide, just for the record.  You are overthinking the implications of what Qobuz should be doing to music.

But - for iPhone/iOS, this is not an option. As far as I can see, you cannot process an audio stream made by an app - in this case Qobuz - so there are no DSP/EQ/PEQ apps around.

Great untapped business chance to apply yourself towards.  I'm sure if Apple likes it enough they might even consider letting you keep something out of it.  :)

I ha(ve)d no idea if a headphone-centric consumer/pro app existed on the "i" side of handheld devices.  With some searching you might unearth something suitable for your purposes.  UAPP doesn't cram the ability to add HP EQ so much as limit ability to accidentally turn them on.

Best of luck.

I would like to respectfully request a porn/gore/satanist filter be applied from the front page onwards.  Couldn't care less how many, how often, or especially how hard campaigning for prominent location of this material is persistently labored after.  Those wishing to consume such material should be forced to select an option which shows results of this nature.  There are very good reasons why every public search engine and nearly every other site subject to visits by minors or others sensitive to this type of material handle the issue in that manner.  Not the other way around.

This was one of the cleaner search results I've encountered which still make the point laid out above.  First 12 results for search term "Doráti."

Your requests are certainly in the works.

I'd like to think after these last few years of very hard work, setting up the service and catalog from scratch, they are finally able to focus on what made their service popular in the EU countries.  Push off in their own direction away from campaigns asking for institution of 'flowcharts to proven success' that would imprint a carbon copy of where the other services fall short.

Last night I spent the requisite amount of time to individually select every playback software option in the first drop down menu preceding downloading of purchased content (Qobuz Store using an up to date browser).  In the current environment there is not a single option across any OS or player option which allows setting WAV as format files will downloaded in.  This would be a non-issue if selecting an option similar to "[OS] Other" stored format selected in second dropdown menu into memory like every other account settings option.  If not already present, I'd appreciate this being added to the loooooong list of requested behaviors.

I have not tried OS other than W10 or a browser other than Chromium.  Anyone, please comment if the above is not a universal behavior.

Aggrieved elements leaking into my previous message may have been imparted by an act of downloading multiple GB of WMA 🤢 at a point of the day I was prepared to not deal with computers any further.  SOP in every case except questions of sex is to select the "other" option and proceed directly to affirming reception of what is needed.

Anotherspin your anger and tone are really not cool, just wanted an answer to a simple question from anyone related to Qobuz.

But I guess I'm starting to understand the philosophy here...

Good night / day.

It's me not him (note his entry was to jibe at my post).  AKA don't feed the trolls or associate with deeply uncool people.

You have raised some reasonable concerns and asked for reasonable explanations.  Up to this point I resisted jumping in (for reason stated above) to sort out a few things.  This forum was... vocal and involved enough to register with Qobuz when they decided to enter the US market.  Most longer term members that subscribe quietly enjoy listening and that's that.  Which leaves room for both new interested parties and negativity in broad swathes.

But there is something really disappointing : the impersonal feeling that the app gives me.

They are French and I fear they have contracted their style a bit to fit in among the beer and cheeseburger Americans who have very different tastes.  The US catalog is world's apart from the EU licensing of Classical and Jazz they did quite well with as a streaming service.  Culturally they are oceans apart as well.  I cannot say what will appeal to you personally.  Me too feature sets and copycat design are hopefully not part of it.

it's like I'm stuck with an old living room CD player. I need to find a sound, then play it then go back to it, find another one. You get the point.

Ah, the cultural aspect rears its head.  800K hour playlists of every song you've ever heard or wanted to hear more of are not part of their DNA.  I'll deign to partially agree with the decadent and outspoken persona of negative disposition a human element of discovery, unpredictable synapse firing in unique ways outside the very deeply psychologically and emotionally leading ecosystems prevalent in US computing, which enriches the user.  You are meant to really dig through the catalog and continue to discover more and more music.  Algorithms can work out pretty well to suggest your daughter is pregnant by what she purchases online or turn you onto some other totally unrelated new release you totally need to buy/stream/tell others about/etc.  Sooner or later you fail to exist in this equation.  This appears to be something on the edge of your mind, being used and paying for it.

Whenever I open the app there is nothing fresh and related to my taste.

Exactly, the focus is not self image.  There are considerably less reinforcing elements that pronounce you as specially involved in everything they toil to make attractive enough for your needs.  Eventually you will recognize the front page is a mature digest of adult interests to be engaged in or brushed past.  Dig in to the catalog with absolutely nothing to stand in the way of being an individual capable of positing numerous different tastes that have zero to do with each other.  Dare I say sophistication free from sophistry and the guiding light of pressure to exist only within suggestible routes.  Suggest an act they've never heard and campaign to get said act to acquiesce to streaming contract.  Enjoy the damned music not lay belly up to the addicting experience of being fed!

So my question is simple : are you guys planning on releasing some recommendation algorithm and if so is there an approximate release date ?

Not very simple.  Very "I want the same experience I've been trained to expect."

I'll thank you for remaining respectful and not reacting to uncool elements probably far below your level of interaction with music.  Give yourself a chance to do personal research that expands upon the ideas and musical tastes other's have so easily adjusted towards accepting as all that is out there.  Relax, don't get frustrated if you hit a dead end.  If you find yourself crying to Streisand at 3 A.M. inexplicably don't show any shame for the connection you forged with the music.  🤭

As a background, I work 15 hours a day (coding machines btw)

In the thick of it, you say.

Decompress I say.  Not pack more into an increasingly smaller timeframe.  You get enough of that.  Make some time for yourself... to sit back and relax enough to enjoy these, razor slim currently, moments seems like exceedingly important life advice.  Much less aiding you in understanding how more contented others approach music, or food, or anything else which feeds the soul.

Quite likely there will be a button you can press that sets the machine in motion on Qobuz given the mass calls for it.

Not sure there is a perfect answer for what should accompany caffeine fueled coding sessions.

If you walk into a record store, do you actively try not to look at the album advertisements on the walls and the albums placed in more visible locations?

Wildly OT:  Ignorance of pop fluff distractions en route to desired section?  Absolutely, even with your nonsensical preconditioning of 'scene' and relics.

There are fewer more pompous statements than the ole “my music is better than yours.” What will you say next, you heard of the band long before me?

Chris, you misunderstood.  It's taking a bit of effort, but I really don't think explaining would have any meaningful impact on your understanding.

It would be nice to have a way to bookmark labels on Qobuz, both on the web and desktop apps.

This 'object' was loosely placed on their design table early on in the US launch.  Both as means to track catalog progress and monitor inflections.  In time ability to focus on changes in this large of a catalog body amortized.

On the whole I think Qobuz does a lot better job recognizing the nature of streaming than many of us attempting to offer helpful suggestions.  The larger picture is knowing where we stop making listening a job and go at it with softer intent, leisure.  Mind I'm wagging a finger at myself, not you.  I do still hope you'll consider those two objectives above and why they might fall away before offering sophisticated returns at barely the lifting of a finger.

Encountered an oddball scrolling behavior that impacts the full screen. and to a lesser extent static, player (using Windows 6.0.3 -b025).  In brief, a +1K character "Artist - Album Title" would be displayed using the same animated routines as shortest number triggering scroll functionality.    I grabbed the nearest free GIF maker which didn't quite manage to capture the unreadable frame rate.  :/

Starting play on album in full screen results in displaying a string of foreign characters for duration of scrolled (hidden) characters.  Roughly 25 characters behind the static load screen this behavior begins.  Then finally catches up and displays correctly after completion.  After one or two cycles the aberrance desists.  As opposed to correctly displayed speed readers synopsis below which continues through rest of album.

Since I was unable to reproduce this first, incomprehensible, result.  It is being listed as a request for future investigation.

I am curious about whether support logging capability might be harnessed to allow storing a highly simplified text based recording of app usage on user devices.  Something buried out of sight far enough it won't promote active or extensive usage.  No user accessible parameters.  Start process and it automatically stops a set number of hours later.  Text file lands in download folder set within app.

What I would like to capture is a very sparse navigational framework + item played (album or track play was initiated from).  Just enough recollections to begin a lovesick search for jolie laide beauty you let slip away that might yield to some intense legwork reconnecting the two of you.  Something you were afforded a momentary glance of that got lost in the throng.

Not available on mobile please!

Not available for auto-play please!

They have enough memory problems already.  ;)
