AudioDoctor
I am currently repurposing my 2011 Mac mini as a Roon endpoint into my receiver via USB, but there is no reason you couldn't use a 3.5mm to RCA cable as well. It works very well for me and I can't see why it wouldn't for you as well. ROON makes it ridiculously simple. tmtomh 1 No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
My receiver (McIntosh MAC7200) has a built in DAC, one of its connections is USB and that's the one I am using. I know it will work because I have a 3.5mm cable going between my Mini and the Receiver as well as the USB to the DAC. If I want I can play ROON via that connection too. I don't, but I sure could. Which model Marantz is it? No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
If your memory is correct that model has digital optical inputs and you can use those as well from the Mini. The headphone out (3.5mm) is also an optical out. That would enable the use of the DAC(s) in the receiver and might sound better than the Mini. No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
They say that those of us that can delay gratification are more intelligent. Thats what I tell myself when I am waiting rather than rushing out and doing it (whatever it may be) at that moment. No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
Roon server is on the mini and I control it with either Roon remote on iPhone or iPad or my MacBook Pro with the Roon software as well. No electron left behind. Link to comment
AudioDoctor
Yes. Roon is pretty neat. There is a free trial to give it a whirl. I don’t know of a way to display album artwork on your tv though. But you can control the Roon server with an iDevice or a laptop running either windows or Mac OS. No electron left behind. Link to comment
