rando
The joke was obvious enough it needed to be got out of the way. A silver tinged black sun, hmm. Going to continue casting my net on the other side of the boat where there are plenty of healthy fish in the sea. Darko, and his boatload of SEO followers, can have at that catch. Link to comment

garrardguy60
It's a $799 turntable that looks pretty similar to a $3,000 Rega Planar 8. I will be very interested to see what kind of coverage/reviews Stereophile and AnalogPlanet give to the SOL. There's a little bit too much of a DIY/science project vibe to the SOL for my taste. [Though it would not look out of place in a pix of one of Fremer's setups, poor cousin though it might be.] Most importantly, I do wonder how heavy the SOL's motor is, and whether it will vibrate out of position. Seems like a great opportunity for some kind of aftermarket cutting board [excuse me; I guess I should call it a plinth] with indents for both those platter support legs and the motor, to create an integrated turntable mounting system [and of course the aftermarketer could add a dust cover to it]. Of course, then it would no longer look like a Planar 8. As for the name, I think the fact that 'SOL' immediately brings to mind that three letter street expression is a feature, not a bug. Interesting point about the motor. I have a Marantz TT-15S1 and the motor would move if not held in place by the plinth (the motor sits in a hole in the plinth). It would be interesting to see reviews of it.. It reminds me of a British TT but the tripod legs are not long enough. I wonder how stable it will be. Ralf11
Rega has been a sort of value leader for many years, so if the SOL is merely as good at 1/10 the price... I'd still want to know which vinyl releases have better SQ than digital... Link to comment

Something funny when you were maybe 10 years old. They've no reason to expect anything except those kinds of references. They are laughing all the way to the bank. They sell people Schiit and convince them to like it. It does look like a budget version of a MicroSeiki DDX 1000. Which wouldn't be a bad thing. lucretius 1 And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. I own their little passive pre and and a Freya preamp. Happy with both for the price I paid. I don’t think it’s because they convinced me. I know that a couple of their products haven’t measured well; but I like that they make and design original products and try to give people good value for money. It’s nice to have a company oriented towards audiophiles that prices things in 2,3, and 4 figures instead of five. audiobomber, Ralf11 and Superdad 1 2 Main listening (small home office): Main setup: Surge protector +>Isol-8 Mini sub Axis Power Strip/Isolation>QuietPC Low Noise Server>Roon (Audiolense DRC)>Stack Audio Link II>Kii Control>Kii Three (on their own electric circuit) >GIK Room Treatments.
