Things I Learned At RMAF:

Always make sure your seat is properly oriented toward the speakers. When people get up to leave, they tend to turn the chairs askew. There were rooms where I found myself underwhelmed and thinking the soundstage is very confusing, only to realize I’m sitting off angle.

Ask and you shall receive is a good tip. The exhibitors will often enjoy your selection of music because they are tired of their playlists.

This applies to all shows - RMAF, AXPONA, Munich ...

• Make good use of the Sunday. Crowds are usually lesser, especially in the morning.
• If you really liked a room, check with them if they plan to keep it open after hours - sometime the best listening experiences happen this way
• If an exhibitor isn't in a hurry to start packing up on the Sunday, you can often get a more relaxed listen late in the afternoon, when crowds have left
• Sound quality is usually best on Sunday, because the system's finally been tweaked and tuned by then
• A lot of rooms will swap in different speakers over the course of a day. For example, last year at RMAF, the Raidho folks were demoing the flagship TD 4.8 in the mornings, and the "affordable" Scansonic line in the afternoon. 
• Look for sign up slots for special demos.

It’s all over the board. Just like the range of HiFi companies is all over the board, so are there communication protocols.

Well, Jessica Fernandez was over played at Axpona this year as well as Lyn Stanley.

 

It was fun going into the Kii room on Sunday at Axpona and hearing some Mongolian Heavy Metal.
