I arrived yesterday and must say this venue is waaaaaaaaay better than the previous RMAF venue.

Ps Audio has a very dynamic system. The volume was pretty loud. Couldn’t tell much about sound quality as a whole.

Interesting comment ... if a setup is very dynamic, and can go pretty loud, that gives me excellent data for assessing the sound quality of the system.

Tells me nothing about delicacy, decay, and all aspects of sound that aren’t loudest

Most music has moments where delicacy and decay figure to some degree, so that aspect then comes into play - if the demo people deliberately chose tracks which were relentless in nature then of course this may not occur ... it's not good if people can't request a change of the style of the music being played.

Check in Room 4-105 how Bryston is doing. They are showing the new BDA-3.14. Do they dare drive it directly to 

power amp.

That’s been kept unusually quiet in the usual Bryston (audio) circles.  Putting streamer and DAC in one box is a big departure  for  them.

3.14=pi. Is it raspberry based like an earlier model?

PI 3 in separate board, so I could be replaced if more power is needed in future.

Indiana and Tennessee too, I think, tried to legislate the rationality of pi.

 

That it is actually transcendental is true, but not that easy to prove.
