A new DAC is coming form Rupert Neve.

He is one of the best known designers in pro audio, and starting a venture in Hi-Fi now.

DSD512 input, AKM chip @Miska

I see some switches on the back. Wonder if a 'DSD Direct' mode is possible. Can't see a user manual just yet.

The headphone is less than 600 Euro. So not a fortune.

I hope the DAC will be similarly well priced, let us say less than 3000 Euro including VAT. If there is anybody to build the preamp and analog part right, it is probably Rupert Neve. Connect it to a 3 way active speaker like ATC, Quested, Neumann, or Manger, etc and you can have a very straightforward, high quality but simple system.

Although I tend to agree that they ought to be up to the task on the analog side, IME the digital side is just as important. I'll be curious to see how the reports come in.
