antonyb
Hi,When I listen to tracks in DSD coming from the NAS every once in a while they make a small jump, it lasts very little, in FLAC nothing happens.I copied the same DSD tracks into the system SSD but no skip.I tried to increase the latency of the DAC but nothing has changed. Gregory
Probably a network issue. What are the files size (dsd and flac)? What is the dsd rate and what is your network speed between your nas and your playback machine? Link to comment
antonyb
The dsd file size is about 200/250 mb, it is a dsd 64 at 5645 kbps the flacs reach even 150 mb.I copied a file from nas to server and the speed reaches 110 mb ... My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
When you play to file copied locally you have no issues? Link to comment
antonyb
Exactly, in the SSD disk where Server 2019 is installed My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
Hard to diagnose, when you copy the file t big chunks are transfered at once saturating the network link (gigabyte ethernet is 125Mb/s raw so your're there already when copying). When playing small part are asked every? and transfer speeds drops. Maybe you can monitor network speeds with some system tools when playing from the nas. Tthere's probably some buffer size you can increase in you player software to compensate for the reading issue. Link to comment
antonyb
True. I enabled the function in Jriver so that the track goes to the ram for 6 seconds, I had increased to 20 but nothing has changed. My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
Hmmmm. My last tries: - Max out the buffer - Check with a different player. Link to comment
antonyb
Can we diagnose the network with some program? My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
Not my specialty I'm on Windows, I usually check with the task manager to have an idea of the throughput. There's certainly dedicated tools for in depth analysis. I'll ask a colleague tomorrow. Which OS are you on? Link to comment
antonyb
Ok ..I'm on windows server 2019 in core mode, and the nas is a qnap ..Thank you.I don't know if an error or something happens, however it is strange because with tracks on the system SSD it does not. My audio system Link to comment

Sounds like a network synchronization problem. If you can control the buffer on the player's (I think JRiver will let you do that) side, make it larger. Is there an appreciable difference in sound between the NAS and the SSD? antonyb
I have not heard any differences between nas and ssd.I tried to increase, tomorrow I try to put at maximum:this My audio system Link to comment
AudioPhil
Thirst thing i would try is to install the latest driver from the original vendor of the NIC. 👍🏼 ıllıllı [ ...AO 4.00 BETA... ] ıllıllı ____________________________________________________________________________________ Shop | Reviews | Reference System | AudiophileOptimizer 3.00 | PDF Guide Link to comment

antonyb
I have installed the LAN drivers that are on the Gigabyte site, they are from 2015 ..He has not solved the problem.I removed Fidelizer and AO reset, it did not solve the problem. The jump does it shortly after I start the track in DSD, then for 2, 3, 4 or 5 tracks it doesn't do it anymore. The jump lasts very little.Very strange. Gregory
As I said previously, hard to diagnose from the forum. Three is your software, its buffer, the protocol used between it and the nas, many variables.... Have you try to max out the buffer? Another player? Link to comment
antonyb
I set the buffer to maximum and it seems to be worse, the biggest jump. What player can I try? foobar? I should configure it for dsd ... My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
I used foobar, now I use Roon for playback. I only have DSD64 files, and no issues: NAS -> Raspberry PI -> DAC. Forgot the password on the raspberry to check the network throughput while playing. But it's 100mb/s so pretty slow compared to a pc / mac (1Gb/s). Link to comment
antonyb
Also jump with foobar.Isn't that the problem is windows?I have another pc and when the screen goes into stand-by or leaves the stand-by the audio skips ... My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
Good point. Try to set the power mode in 'high performance'. Link to comment
antonyb
I use core mode, how do I enable high performance? My audio system Link to comment
Gregory
On win 10 I access it through the explorer: 'Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Power Options' I think you can add plan and choose high performance for the plan Link to comment
antonyb
Yes in GUI, I'm in CORE MODE, I don't know how to do it .. My audio system Link to comment
