There's now a plugin for LMS called "material" that gives a much more modern UI to the Squeeze ecosystem. It works well on PCs, tablets, and phones. 
There are also plugins called "Music and Artist Information" and "Music and Information Screen" which enable the integration of web based album and music data into the display on LMS. Together with the material plugin they give a much more modern "Roon like" UI experience to the Sqeezebox UI.

Of course, by saying you didn't really hear a sonic difference with the Signature Rendu SE optical, you may have really hurt the sales of that item and boosted the sales of the OR. I do agree the one box solution with the high end PS is worth something, the question is how much.

That renderer sounded quite good, especially with a good PS. 
But all of the Rendu series is better, both in terms of sound and performance,  and the OS is much better now.

It's all relative to taste and budget.  mp3 is fine for some; DSD 512 is necessary for others. $500 is outrageous for some; $50000 isn't enough for others.
