Manipulating Phase can give all kinds of unusual effects, such as with the Olivia Netwton John track " Moth to a Flame" where a simulated moth should be heard doing an anti clockwise circular sweep extending both behind the speakers and behind the listening position if the size of the room is suitable., and your speakers and electronics are good enough. If the room isn't wide enough the sweep will usually sound more like an ellipse with the depth longer than the width. Kind Regards Alex P.S. Do you have this track ? Hi Alex, I was not referring to pop commercial recordings, but to some excellent classical music without catastrophic phase manipulations, where practically the speakers disappear and not everything is in the center of the speakers, where the boundaries of the speakers are exceeded in every way . In jazz these jewels are also sometimes found. My listening room has the appropriate dimensions for the speakers I have. And no, I do not have anything of Olivia's music. Best, Roch Link to comment

In my experience not any single recording / album / etc. appears in the center or let show the position of the speakers. Not any. I am serious. And I play albums at random. If this happens, something is seriously wrong (and that easily can be a "wrong" USB cable configuration - just saying). I never even thought of a possible variation in "recordings" as such. And I am still serious ! The clear exception is: LP playback; All is relative, but that comes across as virtually mono. And btw, I actually never hear vinyl addicts complain about this, while for me it is THE reason not to play vinyl rips. My channel separation is better than 140dB. Maybe that matters (read: suppose you guys have way less channel separation, what actually would you perceive from "worse" recordings ?). I do not want to discourage the audience and not everyone has a USB Lush cable with PN ^ 2F configuration 😉 Best, Roch Link to comment

They don't care as long as their profits keep increasing every financial year. Michael Douglas in " Wallstreet 1987" Hi Alex, A very hot topic ! Politicians try to govern many times seeing only the short term and even their possible re-elections. I see everything very complicated. Try to provide the growing population of the planet with abundant and cheap food at once: The excuse of GMO foods and the use of glyphosphate. By the way, glyphosphate is produced and sold, even cheaper, by other agricultural industries that is not Monsanto, disguising its name. Provide humanity only with organic food? A dream impossible to realize. I tried it once. They end up being very lazy and therefore very expensive to produce. Wrap our purchases in paper to avoid plastic? I would have to see if the deforestation that this produces counteracts plastic contamination. Electric cars? The problem that the disposal of the batteries they use is already mentioned. I see, like @PeterSt a better future in the energy coming from hydrogen. In this small country there is already someone working on that, a former NASA astronaut, who is one of our citizen. There is no good financing and of course the powerful fossil fuel industry does the impossible so that it does not prosper. Recently in my country they tried to reintroduce bioethanol, but they could not do it because, public opinion based on the damage it produces in old engines and because the production of it generates a huge amount of pollutants in its industrial process. The insecticides used every day are more dangerous and even do not smell. There is one in particular (from Nicotinioide family) that is killing the population of bees and thus the necessary pollination. Something humanity achieved when it was alarmed by the ozone hole. They replaced the propellants in the aerosol cans, changed the type of gas in the refrigeration equipment, etc. With respect to the global warming, there must be an attitude of the whole humanity and each one of us, with still more aggressive campaigns that have to come from the school. Now, how much corresponds to the pollution that we generate and how much is derived from the "glacial periods"? They talk that only 5% is our fault, and if this is true we should try to prevent it, such as by changing the techniques of agricultural production, but not living as in the middle ages. Of course, the 'peons' in the struggle believe in their goal -- that is GOOD. If you remember -- the big thing in the past was GLOBAL COOLING... Since the scientifically incompetent environmentalists (and the more competent scientists) have learned more, now the terminology is 'warming' or 'change' to avoid terminology problems in the future. Frankly, some of our extremists will try to figure out how to blame the sun for the biggest change in global temperatures, and outlaw the sun!!?!?! Where are the growing CO2 problems coming from? If the US/EU stopped ALL carbon output, the problem is not solved. China would have to start fixing the problem NOW. So far, the US is doing something (not so much blathering with silly treaties that aren't followed.) Step by step from dirty Coal (like China & India) to less dirty natural gas (esp if we sell more of it to help others), then another step later on. Flash cut isn't going to work. A defective treaty that doesn't *really* cover China and India is simple nonsense. That is the major motivation for the US not to tie itself down, but still decreasing CO2. It is very reasonable and rational to state -- no matter if humanity stops producing any CO2, the global warming will continue. There are numerous reasons, and the world will also start cooling soon (it is a cycle also.) Too many variables, and too few/inaccurate models to understand REALLY what is going on. Of course, there are those tryign to grab political power (the leaders of the environmentalists.) Most likely they are just as power mad as the evil corrupt capitalists -- they are just too weak to expose themselves yet. It is insane to assume that windmills can replace a quick start natural gas power plant, and I'd suspect that most people in the US won't tolerate losing most of their freedom. Think about energy storage -- that is a major technology -- think also about exploding Lithium cells. Do you know why they can explode? -- LOTS of energy storage. There is the need for HUGE amounts of research... Do we want our expensive research towards CO2 and other pollution reduction to be stolen by China? That stuff is called IP. The US/EU are doing lots of research towards CO2 goals, China is building more and more Coal plants. Our money and resources MUST go where the good (or attempted good) is being done. Like this chart of actual temperatures too. And while it was known earlier that there was a warming trend in data it wasn't linked well to anything until Charles David Keeling began regular atmospheric CO2 measurements in 1958. Plenty of scientists suspected fossil fuel use would be problematic. Like this graph too. Now I'm surprised no one has posted how we get to zero emissions starting in 1970 and reaching it in 2050. I'm all for it, but I'm not seeing the path yet. I read the article and it leaves me many doubts ... Increase in temperatures of 0.82 Celcius from 1850 to 2015 ... "It is believed" that it is due to the increase in CO2 in the atmosphere ... That is, they are not sure ... On the other hand, where on our planet were these measurements taken? Were the measurements taken in 1850 accurate? Being in the milk business for many years I remember an article published about 30 years ago in a prestigious industry magazine, Hoard's Dairyman, where they said that cows were a danger because their high breath in methane could cool the earth. ..! Maybe we need more cows breathing 🤔 Roch Link to comment
