This was not my first time in München. The last time I was there was a few years ago in June, when I experienced European Delivery at the BMW Welt, followed by a delightful driving tour with my family in our brand new car on the AlpenStraße and into Austria.

On this trip, even though though the High-End show took up a lot of the time, I got to see more of areas like Schwabing, and I agree this is  delightful city to visit. The weather on the whole wasn't as bad as forecast either. Finally, as I like to do wherever I visit, I got to go to 2 classical concerts at the Gsteig Philharmonie, which were fantastic.

As far as audio shows go, I've now gone to RMAF and AXPONA multiple times, while this was my first time at High-End. While acoustics are challenging at all the shows, I found I liked High-End Munich the best. The US shows also tend to skew much more to older male attendees. I liked the energy and diversity of Munich much more.

Ah'll be baaack.

There is Hope that more folks NOT LIKE ME will get into audio.  There is also hope that I can go to the show next year and see family in Fürth at the same time..

I like hope.

I'm afraid, you have to renounce within the next years to visit a concert at the Gasteig. From 2020 on it will be completely renovated and my experience tells me that time and budget planning is not very reliable for public building projects in Germany.

During this time, a temporary Philharmonie elsewhere in Munich is scheduled, but nothing is certain right now because the permit procedure is a complete disaster, only comparable to the mess around the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

What a shame.

From our room on the 5th floor of the Marriott we could see the alps. So I decided on the second show day to drive to it at 06:00 AM. Took me one hour from Marriott to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and then I drove all the way to Lermoos and over the Fernpaß, and on the way back I also took the exit towards both Austrian and German sides where the cabin goes up to the Zugspitze. I used to ski there off piste on that big rock, a long time ago.

This was a very beautiful drive, with very nice curves and a challenge for owners of fast cars not to breakout with this kind of slippery surface ;)

curved roads

On the same day I also drove to family in Landshut after the Munich show, and we were surprised by fireworks with ST:TNG background music. This was a great week for us, both the show, the side activities and the autobahn drive. Too bad we did not see Chris, but the Marriot show was really an eye opener for many: many thumbs up when they left our room.

Should I infer from the "we" and "our room" in the above that you were an exhibitor at the HiFiDeluxe show? I swung by there for a couple of hours on Saturday, and found many of the rooms quite impressive. What brand/exhibitor do you represent?

My favorites at the Marriott were the Alsyvox room and the Rohm room, mainly for the small but really impressive stand-mount MBL's.

We were in room 550, which was a collaboration between the 2 Belgian brands "432 EVO" and "Conquistar". Additional electronics were Metrum & Vitus.

Guys, I am very sorry to report that the state of the upload is about 3 % after 8 hours, I'll guess that'll need some more time.

Access is only available on some of the videos, untitled, on a working board.

If you want anything quick, pm for that link.
... a bit devastated about the poor performance of his Internet connection ...

When I get a chance I can help with the videos.

Chance granted, Chris 😉
OT: After about 3 month trouble with my provider since having renewed the contract in February we have decided to terminate the contract in order to get ftth from the French incumbent, that'll start next year.

 - I guess everyone interested can connect the listed titles above correctly to the available videos him/herself. STC was ok with the raw material on the we collect  page.
- The privacy per dm/pm was just chosen for possible copyright issues (non public).
- There is an upload on the way with the 5 more vids w/size below 100mb into the threat, the first 4 are attached here.
Ah, and I can see a typo in "Chrord" - AAARGR !!!
Gives me even more grey hairs ...

Thanx in advance, Tom

@Blake , if you haven't found yet, it is 0124.mov and 125.mov.
I had visited the room the first day directly, as promised.

Unfortunately, I was not overwhelmed from the quality of presentation, playing piano music in a lively room with lots of "crosstalking" behind the seats.
I felt that did not serve the product very well. Maybe in Paris it will be different/better?

Best, Tom
