jazz01
also a nice one: Melanie Barney - Power of the Organ. It includes Wagner's 'Ride of the Valkyries' played by organ - very special Musicophile 1 Link to comment
Popular Post rando
How timely, I've just picked up a good deal of organ recordings. A fair amount of them in the American Guild of Organists orbit (If you are geographically able to capitalize on that information.). To that end you might find the Pro Organo label useful. I should also mention the Pipe Dreams radio program. You can rightly take it to heart this pricks the pulse of activity in America. I do at this point need to ask what type of organ music you are looking for? The above may not always satisfy 'audiophile recording' in the utmost. Newer recordings equal better modern equipment though not necessarily the absolute best performances or shattering air of brilliance there within. On the other hand, there are literally scads of foundation rumbling organ pieces that don't showcase the full capabilities of the instrument to instead focus on highly enjoyable popular romps. Now for the easy part. I doubt you will struggle to figure out which camp this fall into. Musicophile and phosphorein 2 Link to comment
coot
I don't know your location, but a quick search at Amazon.com organ recordings reveals over 300 to choose. I have more than a dozen St Seans #3; Here is my favorite: elcorso 1 Link to comment

fas42
An older release of this disk is used often for checking out other rigs, etc - the magnificent majesty of the instrument, and acoustics, is usually very poorly handled ... rando 1 Link to comment

Thank you magic man for both... a good recommendation for source material and a reminder my “rig” will likely “handle it poorly “ My System : TWO SPEAKERS AND A CHAIR Link to comment
Musicophile
Just discovered this new release of Bach played on the organ of Notre Dame de Paris, an organ that we sadly won’t be hearing live for a while now. rando 1 Check out my blog at musicophilesblog.com - From Keith Jarrett to Johannes Brahms Link to comment

These minimalist mic'ing recordings were made by Dorian before it was sold to Sono Luminus. Most sound usually very good and natural to me. I don't listen to a lot of organ music so I am not the best person to ask about performance but Guillou was a highly regarded musician and I really enjoy the Saint-Saens Symphony. sphinxsix 1 "Science draws the wave, poetry fills it with water" Teixeira de Pascoaes HQPlayer Desktop / Mac mini → Intona 7054 → RME ADI-2 DAC FS (DSD256) Link to comment
