Computeraudiophile name change

Recommended Posts

I am indifferent to the name, be it Computer Audiophile or Audiophile Style.  It is just a name.  If the owner of the forum cannot choose the name for his forum, then why should the members are allowed to choose his/her own user name.  Is it a double standard again?

Audio forums are like computers; they do require updates once in a while, and a new refresh start in safe mode.

Audiophiles are sound explorers; they test new gear, new cables, new electric junction boxes, new fuses, tubes, tweaks, fine-tuning and asimuth adjustment, proper balance level, volume control, acoustic room treatments, power chords, etc.

Some are even music collectors (tapes, LPs, CDs), others expand their music server library. We keep buying the same album (DSOTM) over and over to get the best version (multichannel) and the best format (tape). ...Even the best pressing (LP from Germany and Japan).

Computer audiophiles are not material physical people; they are interactive cyber space audiophiles with a spiritual audio philosophy (DAC implementation and FLAC).

Computer audiophiles encompasse digital audio.

Style audiophiles encompasse both digital and analog audio.

It's not black & white because computer audiophiles (some) use CD/SACD HYBRID Universel 4K Blu-ray players (Pure Audio BR format included).

Plus, computer audiophiles (some) use a screen display to view and listen to music video concerts recorded live (ballets, operas, symphonies, rock concerts, amphitheater shows, cathedral/church chorales and organs). ...Bach, Beethoven, Botticelli and all...even Coltrane, Davis and Amadeus.

Maybe this is better something like a gold color.   Either that or why not have it flash rapidly between this and red.  That way it would be even more noticeable as an eyesore.

Of course when it was CA having the unfilled CA was a nice touch at the end.  So maybe it needs a name change too.

And always keep in mind: Cognitive biases, like seeing optical illusions are a sign of a normally functioning brain. We all have them, it’s nothing to be ashamed about, but it is something that affects our objective evaluation of reality.

Audiophiles are people who love music.  The rest you describe can generate a lot of noise.

@extracampine

Go chase Kingmaker Darko around an audio show. x-D

The attempt at flattery in the site name doubles as insulation from unkind assessments in other quarters.  I'm pretty sure neither of us are the intended target being gathered under the tent.

"AS" certainly has an element of Paul Allen hobnobbing with rockstars in his later, not younger years.

Audiophilia can be just that to some.  Just have a look here and see how many times you encounter the word "style" in not only the marketing copy, but also the "articles".  And besides, "style" rhymes with "audiophile".  You didn't notice that? 🙂

The problem here is the use of the term "style". This term serves to make our hobby sound superficial, image-oriented and somewhat ostentatious. The obvious connotation is to fashion - image-obsessed and transient. The use of this term here would seem to undermine the purpose of this site - taking the focus away from an approach based in science, electronics or computers and reinforcing the image of audiophiles being concerned with "style over substance".

Audio Science Substance has already been proposed before
