Interesting that they use for ADC the same chip as Hapi, but not for DAC. Matt It is slightly disappointing, but I'm certain that the DAC is still excellent. I've preordered Anubis, which will replace my Hapi with DA8P card. HAPI has been rock solid for my uses -- playback/editing of field recordings and listening -- but ANUBIS will work better for me. asdf1000 1 Link to comment

By the dog, I'm not certain, but I think because it's supposed to help extend the life of Merging's other products, to help transition their truth revealing powers into the afterlife. Which software etc I’m genuinely interested in the different ways people will use this Swiss Amry Knife of a thing Neither and worse -- a prosumer! lol I do nature/field recordings and am after excellent conversion. When I demo'd the HAPI, I found it better than anything I had heard. ANUBIS has ADC and a few other features that I'll use, including a smaller footprint. So, the HAPI must go. asdf1000 1 Link to comment
Popular Post weltarm
For what it's worth, I picked up the ANUBIS (Premium) and have AB'd it with with my HAPI (Premium) and find no, I mean no, shortcomings in the DA side of the ANUBIS. Its headphone amp is stellar. Build quality is supreme. As I understand it, Sonosax helped with the development of the machined aluminum. Set up on a Mac was easy and Core Audio runs it, which means all audio, including system noises, are piped through ANUBIS. I've been running ASMR youtube videos 24/7 and the hair on the back of my neck is permanently standing up. This is a joke. Seriously, though, music playback via iTunes (Cog in my case) works perfectly. My uses are to edit my own field recordings in addition to music playback. I'm an audiophile in name only. And if there's a difference between the HAPI and ANUBIS with respect to DA conversion, it makes no difference to me. The machine can get very, very hot -- think almost untouchable. Turning down the screen brightness helped quite a lot. I hope future firmware versions help even further. Setting the fan to MED or HIGH (its default is low) makes an unacceptable amount of noise for me and did not seem to bring temps down. But with brightness at a lower level and with fan at LOW the machine runs at a perfectly and cozily warm. I'm fully satisfied and will sell the HAPI, which was the first converter I ever loved. giordy60 and asdf1000 1 1 Link to comment
