Amarra Luxe to DAC

So I decided to climb out from under a rock and give Amarra Luxe a spin versus Amarra 3.03 that I currently use. The item I am confused about is DAC connection. With the 3.03 it is quite obvious with the software when the DAC is connected and being used as the converter. The Luxe version appears as though it (the software) is the converter. Does Luxe automatically default to a DAC as the converter once the DAC is found or is my assumption that Amarra Luxe is the converter right?
