Thanks and that's good to know that when you connect your microRendu you don't see those options. Will post up sample settings later today.

Thinking about this again. The microRendu is USB and I guess will work without specifying DOP?

Yes I have selected Genre / Artist / Album in the settings.

 

In the old remote, it very handily displayed a list of all genres down the left hand window of the screen (when using ipad in landscape mode). Click on a genre, only those albums covers displayed in the right window. Perfect!

 

In this new remote, when one clicks upon Albums, you just get a screen full of every album cover. Yes, they are arranged by my selection of Genre / Artist / Album, but there is not a header/title displaying the genre to separate out the albums into easily navigable groupings.

 

To be honest I have never been happy with the new Audirvana, much preferred the layout of the 2.* versions. And now I dislike this new remote too. Really feel like each paid upgrade has been a downgrade for me which ALWAYS ends up causing me wasting precious time to sort out issues like this. Think I’ll move back to my Raspberry Pi3b and Moode unless I can get this new remote app to display Genre headings in Albums view.

Whilst I never used the browsing features, I too primarily pick albums (rarely if ever tracks) from genres. However, I’ve created about 20+ smart playlists based on genres (another 60-odd based on albums and artists). 
 

Hard for Damien and co. to cater for all our different ... ‘play-flows’. 
 

Hopefully, the new remote can be developed over time. 🙂

You do realize you can simply filter by genre?

Yes, but I don't want to have to keep doing that when with the 'old' app you simply could click on ANY genre on the left hand side without all the back and forth between screens to select then deselect or change the filter options. It seems unnecessarily convoluted compared to how it was. I still consider the Genre field as an essential to easily (and quickly) finding music and something that should really be added to the Home screen (under the LOCAL heading) of the app. Cheers.

Interesting.  I get DSD not supported for both oppo and Sony tv.  I remember getting DSD 64 on the oppo with the previous version of Audirvana.

With microRendu I can actually setup the DSD rate all the way up to 512 but I do not get any setting for DOP.

I hadn't seen that. It seems to have the functionality of the browser in the old remote, but it's better hidden.

I assume Damien doesn't want Audirvana to be just "Adequately Equipped" with a remote, but "Outstanding" with the most user-friendly, easy to understand remote. A remote that's a match for the amazing sound we get from Audirvana.

To me all setting seems ok.  Jud can maybe provide more feedback.

 

I Have a feeling that Audirvana is not doing DoP v1.0 anymore and maybe that why you don’t get a sound.  Maybe that’s why I can’t do DSD on oppo anymore.

Not sure this will help, but what happens if you change maximum PCM bit depth to 32 for your device (if you can)?

What happens in Roon if you change DoP to a different version? 

Do you get hissing and faint music in background?

if yes, then DoP is the issue here since Audirvana may use a different DoP version.

I just downloaded the new remote app and my first impression is finally the app works!  I never liked the old remote and would frequently just go back to the computer and select what I wanted.  Also, things seemed to hang up when using the remote even though it was the computer (27" iMac) running everything. 

 

I like that I can now see what is hi-res on Qobuz, and that the selection screens follow the desktop as close as possible, and follow normal standards of apps too.

That's probably the app and computer aren't on speaking terms anymore, even though it looks like they are. Quit and restart app, or reselect computer on the app.
