It is known problem related to their new T2 security chip...

It is not just the new MacBook Pro, but other new Macs that have the T2 security chip as well.

AFAIK, one of the least expensive solutions to get rid of is this one:

I just have to wonder how this kind of major screw-up has slipped through Apple's quality control... I'm also finding it quite annoying that one needs to use more and more dongles with Apple devices. And this is not making things any better...

Thunderbolt is very nice interface for many things, although it is also a security hole in itself. For example USB is quite crappy interface for connecting external HDD's, but Thunderbolt is very efficient and fast for such.

what a huge bummer it was a dam mistake to buy this macbook, can they not fix it via firmware updates does it mean it will be an always existing problem

AFAIK you need a Thunderbolt dock, not an USB-C dock.

so this means they can not fix that through software updates in the future

and does apple know about this issue and are they flat ignoring it, which is weird as so many audiophiles use macbook pros

Apple do not care about audiophiles.

Great read.

"It is glaringly apparent that the iPhone and the iPad are Apple’s focus."

This is obvious even from just Apple Music app.

The MacOS version is horrific compared to iOS versions, which is quite nice (if we use Spotify as the gold standard in terms of UI/UX). It's obvious they put more time/resources into iOS (and iOS devices).

Also his PC build would make for a really nice HQP machine 😁

Nice CPU and nice GPU. Even the motherboard he chose has the low noise "DAC-UP 2" ports (probably not useful for him as he uses Thunderbolt).

Yes, some time ago I read that Apple want to create one OS which runs both on their computers and mobile devices.

Any news on that?

Yes this rumour recently gained a lot of steam with recent rumours about Apple shifting from Intel to ARM processors over the next couple of years.

The rumour is, it is part of a strategy for one OS, making it easier for app devs.
