Once Alan Shaw made reference to his PSE3, LS3/5 and similar small speakers to his bigger siblings for vocal comparisons. Many would say the most accurate vocal reproduction is by the BBC Ls3/5 and the smaller Harbeth speakers because the 4 inch driver size is about the size of human mouth. In Alan’s opinion, they made no difference but he believes listeners perceive the vocal sound to be more accurate because the size of loudspeaker is closer to typical human head. Visual cue maybe affecting the perception. The radition surface may be be accurate for lower frequencies but I din’t think it changes the directivity at the listener’s sweetspot. A direct sound is a direct sound. The radiation directivity could affect the sound after interacting with the room. Just my VHO.
