Combined server/players?

Recommended Posts

The Wyred4Sound MS is the only thing I’ve seen that combines Roon Core and endpoint in one box. No separate computer needed.

I just want one box with Ethernet in, and SPDIF out (I have active speakers with built in DAC). It needs to run Roon and Spotify Connect.

I’ve done a lot of digging and can’t find any other options.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing until I tried the Roon Nucleus. Then it made sense to have a fanless dedicated Roon server box and then focus my attention on an all in one streamer/DAC or a two box solution.

Innuos Zenith supports both:

Roon server/roon player

&

Roon server/Squeezelite player

Both in the one box. The latter sounds superb as it plays from RAM and buffers the playing track from the hardware noise.

Cheers,

Alan

Correct, but unfortunately the Zenith MK3 has no SPDIF output. To my surprise, the smallest model, the Innuos ZENmini MK3 is more flexible and offers bridged Ethernet, USB and SPDIF optical and coax outputs.

Interesting as RAM is one of the main contributors to internal electrical noise, it is switching very fast and adds to the SSN spectrum (simultaneous switching noise) spectrum...

My bad. Missed the ops requirement for SPDIF. The perils of posting before my morning coffee!

Yes, the Zenmini looks promising. It's surprising they don't have SPDIF out on the higher end components.
