Dumbed down AL nuc question.............

Paraphrasing a computer whiz from the big thread, "AL nuc's are not for everyone."

I am a member in good standing of this category, but I want an AL Nuc for cheap.

Is the day on the horizon where one could purchase a stock nuc, a usb flash drive

with preinstalled plug and play AL, and bingo bongo your done?

If you really mean “on the cheap”, buy a Raspberry Pi 3b+ for $35, stick it in a $12 metal case, and slide an AL card or stick in the slot. Add a standard switching wall wart PS for $10 or go wild with a linear for a bit more.  You’ll have SQ equal to or better than that from a basic 5005-powered NUC for about 15% of the cost, complete with Ethernet, USB, HDMI, analog audio, and WiFi built in (just like a NUC).
