BTW, I'm not a big proponent of 5G. The hype is nearly as crazy as the worry of Axial.  I think it would be a decade or two before coverage is very good outside large cities.  I think we'd benefit more to fill in more places with really good 4G (much 4G works though marginally).  4G when good can be pretty speedy.  

 

My complaint is all the ignorant worry about the effects of this radiation at these frequencies.   I put it in the bin with those crazies who insisted microwave cooking was a health problem.

Just a few facts:

1. Nokia is the owner of Bell Labs.

Bell Labs are fully involved in 5G.

The reasons of Huawei's troubles are more at a political/strategy level than technical.

2. 5G untested frequencies? -> False

Military have ben using E, W, D bands (5G and +++) since quite long.

I personally think what was said was intelligent, but perhaps not in a way that you liked.  Let me see if I can put what our friends like @esldude, @wgscott, @marce, etc., are concerned about in a way that will allow you to have more insight into what they (and I) are thinking.

 

I want to talk about something off-topic first, vaccination and people who think it's a bad thing.  As with 5G, there are some (though not many, and not mainstream) scientists and doctors who say vaccination is bad for various reasons.  There is science both at the individual level (debunking the various ways people have said vaccines cause injury or disease) and at the population level (studies of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated children in California and Denmark, a total of 1,500,000 kids) showing vaccines do not cause harm.  Yet in the age of the internet, bogus anti-vaccination information is widespread enough that for example, just slightly more than half the US population bothers to get a flu shot, and in 2017 80,000 people in this country died of influenza.  Can you imagine if there were an Ebola epidemic in the US, tens of thousands were dying, and a vaccine was developed?  You would need guns to keep people from breaking into the places where it was manufactured.

 

So now 5G: Despite some (though not many, and not mainstream) scientists who say 5G is harmful, there is science both at the individual level (debunking the ways people have said 5G radio waves cause harm) and at the population level (cell phones were invented in 1973, and have only recently become ubiquitous - do we have hundreds of millions of times more brain cancer?) showing it does not cause harm.

 

Now perhaps fear of 5G or other cell phone communication is not so harmful as fear of vaccines.  On the other hand, I can certainly imagine disadvantages or even harm resulting from people putting themselves out of reach of rapid emergency communication, fast internet for the kids, etc.

If some want to talk about and criticize the poster it's kids stuff for showing off their superiority and fight over their superior knowledge (ego). That I just don't need more than there already is in this world.

It's about many things...control, economy, privacy, security, political is automatic it goes without saying, and Huawei had deals with countries that are less than world friendly. 

Many countries are not happy with the way they do things and China's support on spying. 

 

5G is more than about super fast speed and radiations and health issues, it's also about the world telecommunication dominance, the huge economic power, the next black gold (oil that kills), the next tobacco (toxic that kills), the next plutonium ... 

 

5G is like the new arm dealings (guns), the most lucrative business. 

It's nice to be alert, knowledgeable, preventive, to analyse all the consequences for the human race and the planet it lives on. 

 

5G is the big boost of Artificial Intelligence. I'm certain that there are big Pros, and big Cons too. And from all avenues...geographical, physical, psychological, technological, economical, ...all that jazz musical.

Well the big question is whether a direct 5G connected DAC has lowered jitter and more "analog" like sound quality.  Sure, maybe it reduces your lifespan, but maybe it makes the life you have more musically meaningful. We could even put up with a little communism if it gets me more solids sounds qualities.  You'll need 5G speeds to squeek in with two channels of DSD 16,384.  My guess would be they can implant subcutaneously the antennae around our skull to receive the signals and convert them right into the auditory cortex.  Which also fixes issues with our hearing getting worse with age.

Thanks Teresa. But here's my line of thought: Uno, I'm sure Chris has better things to do with his time.

Dos, all the members are old enough to reflect and readjust, I have confidence in their leadership and integrity. 

 

We can all do better; our tone is our style, and action creates reaction. The best way to stop the bullying, trolling, etc., is to stop it right @ the beginning, the snake's head. ...Just cut it off so it won't return. 

 

I'm relatively new here; many members are very smart and polite too...they always show respect, even in their humor. 

These members are the real leaders, the ones I take my comfort zone from, the right direction to follow. 

 

Disagreements in audio is normal, disrespect is not.

Music, DACs, Computers, Turntables, Amplifiers, Loudspeakers, Sounds, Mono, Stereo, Multichannel, Audio radio frequencies, Hertz, Human Range, 20/20 audio Spectrum, Subharmonics, Ultra high frequencies, distortion, jitter, alienization, upsampling, bits, pits, crevasses, downsampling, communication, telecommunication, ...? 

 

5G will make downloading hi res audio music libraries just that much quicker, snap of an instant.

Is listening to Heavy Rap music (harsh language) an off topic subject. 

 

General Equipment ... Cell Phones, Tablets, iPads. They all play music, have audio electronics inside, DACs, and much much more in 5G style. I thought I picked carefully a subject. If the majority is in disagreement, no sweat, we just kill this topic and we move on towards better horizons. What we love is what we like to talk about. National security; the airports are almost shut down because they are short of staff. How more insane ...

All government employees just paid for a wall, there's your six billion right there. 

 

But it's 5G potential health issues versus the benefits for our telecommunication leaders and the population that enticed me to start this thread...radiation from super high radio frequencies. ...Cell Phones...equipment...cell phones...communication...radio...telecommunication...audio frequencies...radio...audio...equipment...cell phones...good...bad...5G...questions?
