Update upmpdcli

emerge -C upmpdcli

emerge -K upmpdcli

login in tidal with lin kazoo works, but I don't understand one thing where you set the quality of tidal streaming in lin kazoo?
I always have mp3 320 kbs

what does lin kazoo have better than mcconnect?
for me better the latter

If you use Bubbleupnpserver you set the streaming quality in the openhome renderer configuration in Bubbleupnpserver

if you don’t use Bubbleupnpserver you have to set the quality, and the login informations as well, in the upmpdcli configuration file

lin kazoo allows a direct login in tidal, and it works, but I was wondering why it allows a direct login and does not allow you to select the quality...

Although Roon's UI is very convenient I have stopped using it and moved to Audirvana which has a much better SQ.
Roon is not even close, even with HQPlayer.

I have always preferred Audirvana.

Funny how that doesn't work for you, gp-update works?

The version of upmpdcli in GP is currently 1.4.2

...this was talking about Systeminfo-Software not showing version number of the various components installed and.....yes, gp-update fixed it.

Thanks

The update to upmpdcli to 1.4.10 worked. So thanks again.

About mConnect: the fact is that with mConnect you are actually streaming from your smartphone, so if you exit the app, you stop streaming.

With Kazoo (or Lumin App or the newest Linn App etc), the app is indeed only a controller, you are streaming "server side" through upmpdcli and (if you use it)  BubbleUPnPServer.

Therefore, even if you exit the app, streaming goes on....that's why I usually stream this way.

Building new PC, installed GP, running into some issues.

  • Wifi adapter won't be recognized under 4.19, 5.4 will show the Wifi adapter (Intel AX200), is it possible to include support for Intel AX200 under kernel 4.19?
  • System Config Advanced - Twk Various doesn't work, fails on my new install, how can I stop the Hotspot service from running?
  • Is it possible to run the Embedded version without a graphics card? selecting the "turn off the linux console" option?

Thank you

Just got a Ryzen 3800X running HQPe and Roon, HQPlayer is using only 2 CPU's out of the 8, temp is 72 so no throttling is happening, the profile was the standard, I just changed to custom and did some adjustments, basically leaving blank the player software CPUs but I see only 0 and 4 being used 78% or so

Any ideas of what could be happening? or what should I do to get some more processor cores running?

rpi4?

on rpi4 does not work with all leds.

You can try it by hand:

echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness

or

echo none > /sys/class/leds/led0/trigger
echo none > /sys/class/leds/led1/trigger
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led0/brightness
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/led1/brightness

for the lan led, I've never tried it, but with one of the last kernels it should work by adding to config.txt

dtparam=eth_led0=4
dtparam=eth_led1=4

mount /boot
nano /boot/config.txt

Does this work also with RPI 3B+?

I turned them off on web interface. Ethernet LEDs are off but there are still 3 lights on.

Hoping that others spend less time on this, below the steps that worked for me to bridge eth0 and eth2.

Replace ip addresses ad lib.

Connect ethernet cables as follows (or similar depending on your topology):
    router => switch (this connection is only needed for install, can be removed afterwards)
    router => server eth2
    server eth0 => switch => endpoint
stop the hotspot service via GP web interface
modprobe bridge
emerge net-misc/bridge-utils
/bin/ifconfig eth0 up
/bin/ifconfig eth2 up
/sbin/brctl addbr br0
/sbin/brctl addif br0 eth0

(from here manually via console:)
/sbin/brctl addif br0 eth2
/bin/ifconfig br0 up
/sbin/brctl stp br0 on
nano /etc/conf.d/net

   bridge_br0="eth0 eth2"
   config_br0=( "192.168.1.202/24" )
   config_eth0=( "null" )
   config_eth2=( "null" )
   brctl_br0=( "stp on" )
   depend_br0() {
      need net.eth0 net.eth2
   }
   routes_br0="default via 192.168.1.1"
   ##bridge_forward_delay_br0=0
   bridge_hello_time_br0=1000
   bridge_stp_state_br0=1
ln -sf /etc/init.d/net.lo /etc/init.d/net.eth0
ln -sf /etc/init.d/net.lo /etc/init.d/net.eth2
rc-update add net.eth0 default
rc-update add net.eth2 default
ln -sf /etc/init.d/net.lo /etc/init.d/net.br0
rc-update add net.br0 default
/etc/init.d/net.br0 start
reboot

Hi all

Thanks to your description and the one of @luisma and some other information I managed to get a bridge working on my computer with 3 network ports.

As you did, I also noticed that the next day it didn't wok as intended any more.

It turned out that the numbering of eth0, eth1, eth2 related to the ports (mac addresses) is not consistent at start-up unfortunately.

By creating a file /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

looking like

SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="XX.XX.XX.XX.XX", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth0"
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="YY.YY.YY.YY.YY", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth1"
SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="ZZ.ZZ.ZZ.ZZ.ZZ", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth2"

where XX.. YY.. ZZ.. are the mac addresses it became persistent. (at least after a reboot while under power, at first start-up not always so).

So I should be happy. But:

The computer is running RoonServer on Gentooplayer.

RoonServer works, but it cannot login to Qobuz. Is says due to a network error.

Also gp-update will not work stating that there is 'no route to host'.

The music on the NAS is accessible.

At one side of the bridge is a switch to which also the router is connected, that is the modem/DNS/gateway and can be pinged from the RoonServer pc. Ping google.com also works, though often not at first attempt:

Ping results in first one or two lines with failure to connect, then it finds the Google IP address.

At the other side of the bridge is my NUC running Squeezelite-R (sounds better than RoonBridge in my set-up)

And on that gp-update works fine, even though it has to go through the bridge to get to the gateway.

I do not understand how this is possible and would really appreciate help on this!
