Initially I found the sound a little tinny, but I am happy to say that it has regained its full bloom (surprisingly enough) after changing the usb chain order between renderer and DAC. It is now as follows: renderer --> Uptone Regen --> SOtM tX-USBhubEX --> Lush1 cable --> DAC Before that, the Regen was where you would expect it: the last in the chain before the DAC. However the revised order is a big improvement: wonderful holographic and non-digital sound. I love it! I am using ramsystem which really makes a positive difference. However, while in RamDisk mode, neither saving to disk nor adding ramsystem to boot seem to work: I get I/O errors. Not a big problem as I can make changes after normal boot, and creating the RamDisk only takes only about 12 seconds (!) with a usb 3.0 stick (Mach Xtreme Technology MX-ES 16GB). GP is a great player OS indeed! audio system Link to comment

bodiebill
hi Filippo, here goes: With the usb stick attached all the time: - ramsystem (command) - [4] ramdisk mode 2 - this successfully completes - [14] Add the ramdisk at system startup; this results in: /opt/.gentooplayer/script/ramdiskadd.sh: line 7: rc-update: command not found you have to restart the system, restart now? y/n - y, this results in: packet_write_wait: Connection to UNKNOWN port -1: I/O error NaCl plugin exited with status code 255. - when I ssh in again, on top there is no green RamDisk indicator, just this: 4.19.5-rt-rt4-MIN-GP1 Not a big deal, but maybe you can tell me what I am doing wrong? audio system Link to comment
michaelvv
Hi. Maybe someone knows it it's possible to stream a whole album in the squeezelite buffer.. I have tried to look through all the pages in LMS, and set squeezelite buffer (-b) to a very large value (2GB / 2GB) of RAM. When I then play the whole album, and disconnect my RJ45 cable it stops a little before the next number. It both happens with individual flac files and with one big flac file and a cue-sheet which contains the whole album. Thanks Michael Link to comment

No. At the moment LMS does prestreaming only of the current track (+ the next?) the only way to make preload of the whole album is to use the full WAV. Thanks a lot. Tomorrow I'll try to rip a CD to a whole WAV file a do the same test, and see If I then can unplug my LAN cable. Do you know if it's possible to do this in sox ?? # for none gapless playing. flac1 + (2 sec silence) + flac2 = wav Link to comment
michaelvv
Hi. Find out to make a combined wav file with sox and do the silence 2 sec between each number. Playing now without my LAN cable plugged in. See how it goes... Link to comment
Patatorz
Hello Antonello, just tried the latest image for Pi as when i tried to to a "gp-update" it told me that it is not anymore maintained. I tried to installed the latest image "gentoplayer-raspi-190110.img" but impossible to boot in the Pi. I downloaded twice and burn the image few times : completely stuck. The 2 previous images are working perfectly. Blog / Forum Link to comment

The image is booting but without ethernet (dhcp client). I connected my pi3B+ to TV via HDMi and hooked an USB-keyboard and have set the ip address manually this way. With the version before I neither had this issue. The problem with the version 19110 is I can not install the Alsa version 1.0.29 but booting into RAM works. That was not with the version before. So for the moment I prefer the version before with Alsa 1.0.29 and activating the Ramsystem manually after booting. Holzohr
I see. I already have pm-ed Filippo (Antonello) about it. He said the image is using a kernel for the pi3b without +. You must select the right kernel after the first boot. But how to select when you have no access via ethernet. antonellocaroli
If you have a 3 b + rpi, you have to choose a suitable kernel, I do not know why with previous versions of the kernel the network also worked with the kernel for rpi 3b normal ... with this version of the kernel no ... @holzhor what's wrong with alsa 1.0.29 GentooPlayer home Facebook Documentation Link to comment
