Using the version downloaded a week ago, without the kernel change download. I decided I like the sound of kernel 4, with Profile Select 4, so that is what I've been using. Sounds really good, and no pops in my system. I did have some pops with kernel 4 without changing profile, but I tried the different profiles, though 4 sounded best, and it doesn't have pops Note that another reason I picked kernel 4 is that is only had a few pops with default profile. Some kernels have a lot more pops Randy Thank you so much for this tip randytsuch! This seems to be only combination that actually fixes my faint pops with USBridge Signature connected to iFi Pro iDSD DAC. I think I've tried every combination with 4.14 kernels and none of those worked and was just about to give up... I've been getting faint pops with even DietPi versions that are supposed to work. DomieMic65
The last days while I play some music using s.lite or s.lite r2 suddenly the music stops and it starts again after a reboot. “sqrestart” or “sqrestart2” doesn’t fix the issue.. I have it regardless profile, ramsystem, kernel... Any idea what to check? Thanks! zackthedog
A friend just bought an Allo USBridge Sig and I'm helping him set it up. We've got Moode working fine with Audirvana. But he really only plays Tidal. I'd like to him to try Gentooplayer. Is there a way to set it up so that he can play Tidal from Kazoo on his iPhone? I've forgotten how to set up bubbleupnp. I can enable it in GP but how do I configure it? Do I also enable MPD and Upmpdcli? Thanks for any help. Link to comment

fred_com
Hi @antonellocaroli, what a great software you have here! It seems like you've put a lot of work in it. Unfortunately, it didn't worked out for me, so maybe you can help me? I have a BBB connected via I2S to Buffalo III SE, running a networkaudiod and botic driver. It works fine with some other images, so I wanted to try yours out. Flashed the BBB, it all went fine, enabled the networkaudiod, changed the kernel to Botic one. The HQPlayer finds my GentooPlayerBBB on the network. But as soon as I start playback in the HQPlayer, the networkaudiod log on the GentooPlayerBBB starts producing this: sh: /etc/networkaudiod/onconnected: No such file or directory [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): Found ALSA device: hw:CARD=Botic,DEV=0 - Botic: [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): begin disconnection [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): ALSA backend uninitialized sh: /etc/networkaudiod/ondisconnected: No such file or directory [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): disconnected 192.168.1.38:60768 [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): discovery from 192.168.1.38:57757 [/usr/sbin/networkaudiod] (1523): discovery from 192.168.1.38:57757 And it goes like this on and on. I've run gp-update, and updated the networkaudiod also, but still no good. Attached is the screenshot of system info. Could you please advise what to do? Thanks, Fedor Link to comment

bern
Hi, For years in my home network I use couple of ARM based music players : BeagleBone Black (with Botic) as well as couple of 'RPIs machines' (including RPI zero W). Sometimes I use LMS + squeezelite and sometimes MPD in the satelite setup. All players are connected to the linux ubuntu server via wifi and use common music collection/library. Currently I'd love to try gentooplayer. 😀 Is there a chance for gentooplayer to fully support WIFI eg for BBB/Botic? Do you have plans to support other RPI models e.g. RPI 1,2, ZERO, ZERO W? It would be great. Link to comment

I can see that the uEnv.txt contains something different from what it was before the Profile 1. I mean, before it had kernel_file and fdtfile variables, some others, and uenvcmd string at the bottom. But after setting the Profile 1 it contains only these two lines and BBB won't boot: uenvcmd=setenv os_type linux; bootargs=earlyprintk clk_ignore_unused selinux=0 scandelay console=tty0 loglevel=1 real_rootflag=rw root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rootwait aotg.urb_fix=1 aotg.aotg1_speed=0 noibrs noibpb nopti nospectre_v2 nospectre_v1 l1tf=off nospec_store_bypass_disable no_stf_barrier mds=off mitigations=off isolcpus=1-3 nohz_full=1-3 rcu_nocbs=1-3 tsc=reliable mce=ignore_ce nosoftlockup audit=0 idle=poll Could you please take a look at this? I'm sorry, you're right, I completely forgot to put a WARRNING, that the profiles should not be used on BBB .... and they don't make sense, they are for multicpu .... the BBB is mono cpu .... Popular Post antonellocaroli
gp-update Rpi3 add new functions: Update or switching kernel webinterface: or in shell kernelupsw Kernels are listed with the kernel version and the compilation date. RT kernels only replace RT kernels, and non-RT kernels only replace non-rt kernels. Once the kernel is installed, however, you must use selectkernel to select the kernel to boot. in squeezelite I added resampling options, these now only work for those who compiled squeezelite with resample support. In the next versions it will be compiled by default. a little guide here clipper and franz159 1 1 GentooPlayer home Facebook Documentation Link to comment
