I cannot seem to upgrade from 6.00-29 to 6.10.

I’ve tried a number of times — including after a reboot. I’m not running in the RAM system, not have any profiles enabled (but do have some CPU tweaks enabled).

Since updating to 6.00, I can no longer get MPD to work when booting from RAM (perhaps, like Simplicyk’s LMS issue?).

If that is the case, is there some commands I can add like that for MPD?

I am also having some connection issues with my iOS client (Rigelian). But not sure if that’s an issue with GP or not.

On a brighter note, I was finally able to access ssh and configure the system to under-clock automatically after rebooting. Thank you so much for your easy instructions on that, Filippo!

Thanks for the suggestion - it never occurred to me. But sadly, it failed.

I don’t notice a difference sonically if I’m booting from RAM or not (but do notice a difference if playing music from different sources). So not too worried about it currently.

Setting up all my preference is a little tedious, so will wait for a major update. thanks again 🙏

I have successfully upgrade from 6.0 to 6.10.

However, when I flashed a fresh 6.10 image, I could not remove un-use software (even with default kernel, default profile, no ram system).

Below is the error message:

!!! /etc/portage/make.profile is not a symlink and will probably prevent most merges.
!!! It should point into a profile within /var/db/repos/gentoo/profiles/
!!! (You can safely ignore this message when syncing. It's harmless.)

!!! Your current profile is invalid. If you have just changed your profile
!!! configuration, you should revert back to the previous configuration.
!!! Allowed actions are limited to --help, --info, --search, --sync, and
!!! --version.

Not sure what is the issue.

Thanks for the extremely fast solution.

Successfully uninstalled un-used softwares after an gp-update. :)

Yes. I went back and burned 6.00 to an sd card, and had the same message, even when re-entering my key and username. I tried a couple of more times, and it seemed to work. Now I'm installing gmrender-resurrect for the last hour +. which is fine, because I know it takes a long time. So, it either resolved itself or I don't know what. Tomorrow I will see if I can update to 6.10.

On a different but maybe related topic, whenever I try to choose a kernel, the system shuts down to reboot (I think) but doesn't come back up. When I click to a different section and come back to select kernel, the kernel selected has disappeared. Suggestions? How long should it take to reboot on a rpi4?  Thanks.

weird....just tried it with a rpi4 and version 6.10 I don't have any of these problems
are you sure the sd card is good?
can you post your systeminfo?

the first boot is longer because it resizes the root.
The next few seconds 20/30 sec.... I've never calculated.

I loaded a new Samsung Evo Plus microSDHC UHS-I 32 Gb card with 6.10. Same problem with Selectkernel. While playing around trying to figure it out, I also went into UP/DW kernel to see what that would do, and entered this, which shows below: 5.10.33-GentooPlayer-CK-ST+. But the main Selectkernel on execution, shuts down but doesn't reboot, and if I refresh the page, the kernel is blank again.  Maybe you will see something in Boot Options below?

I had assumed I needed a kernel installed to use Gentooplayer, but it doesn't seem so, and makes me wonder what the different kernels actually do. I've done a little research on the internet to understand kernels, but now I'm wondering how Gentooplayer could work at all without a kernel installed.

Thanks

Feature Request: sc2mpd

Using the Songcast app to capture audio from windows 10 computer (or Mac also, I believe) to watch live or recorded concerts or YouTube and cast the audio to Gentooplayer on the RPi4.
See https://www.lesbonscomptes.com/upmpdcli/index.html.
Linn Songcast app
sc2mpd

I like to watch live or recorded live concerts on my Windows 10 computer at my desk. I used to use a Linn Majik streamer, and with the Linn Songcast app on my computer, it would capture the audio and cast the audio to the Linn Majik streamer, amps, and speakers across the room. I think Songcast can cast at high bit rates also. Now I use a RPi4 with Gentooplayer, but I have never found another app or software that does what Songcast can do. One could do the same with YouTube or video files, or anything you can play on your computer. So, for example, you could open Spotify or Tidal or Qobuz or Soundcloud apps or websites or anything else on your computer, and Songcast the audio across the room (and mulitroom I believe). You could go to the Radio Paradise website and play their FLAC streams, rather than the 320 stream that is available on Gentooplayer radio.  I think adding the capability to make the receiving device an OpenHome renderer would work similarly, but I've never been able to successfully add sc2mpd or OpenHome to my RPi4 renderer, so I'm not sure if they are identical or overlap in capabilities. Even using BubbleUPnP, my songcast app doesn't find Gentooplayer on the rpi4.

So, if Songcast and OpenHome were an option to install and enable on Gentooplayer, I think it would greatly expand what people could listen to from their computer, but through their stereo.

Thanks!
