Not many, if any I would say. Perhaps that is because once a few measurements have been taken, little remains to be discussed. Ralf11, esldude, sarvsa and 1 other 2 2 Link to comment

Most of us can’t properly test or measure at home. We do the best comparisons we can and proceed on the basis of that. When an "objectivist" asks for measurements, he means any measurements supporting the claim, such as in a Stereophile review. Nobody is demanding that everybody perform lab grade testing themselves. That's the great thing about measurements; they are equally valid no matter who made them. I suspect this is a difficult concept for the "subjective" crowd insisting on personal experience as a prerequisite for any kind of opinion. It's as though they fail to understand that a measured result is universally valid and not merely a product of personal experience. Hugo9000, crenca, phosphorein and 2 others 5 Link to comment

That's a perfectly valid question. It is within anyone's abilities to do a single blind test. I'm not saying everybody must do this, but if they did, their report will carry more weight. It's that simple. 25 minutes ago, Jud said: @firedog also threw in that most folks can't do a lot of measurements for themselves, Right, which is why referring to measurements made by someone else is perfectly fine. How are they supposed to do this if only one kind of reply is permitted? 7 hours ago, The Computer Audiophile said: Nobody is saying send your last $10,000 to an online preacher. Perhaps not, but people asking for advice in improving their sound on a budget of $1000 or so are regularly told to spend the bulk of it on exotic power cables, fuses, or other dubious pursuits. That's not what I consider helpful. Even if those items do make a difference, surely you agree they should not be the top priority. sarvsa, Ralf11, PeterSt and 4 others 5 1 1 Link to comment

I have been absent for a great many months at a time only returning for the Moderators thread. If that doesn't carry a positive outcome I am gone. Like others before me eg Barry Diament, I have no interest in revisiting the same S/O bullsh*t and childish personal attacks that pervades and derails most threads of interest to me. I own high end equipment. Try discussing that here without a flack jacket and helmet ! Not this little black duck. It's not that *I* need a "safe space" it's because the thread would be derailed after 3 posts. (for me) there is no point in returning without additional moderation/ moderators . sarvsa and Ralf11 2 Link to comment

But to impugn the ability of someone doing measures who is a degreed electrical engineer and spent most of their career in computer and electronics industries is a bit much. Plus the person Peter doesn't like seems to do just fine with non controversial types of measures. I've been able to do the same measures for myself on one piece of gear. Results were pretty much identical. But I was reading meters not feelings. Amir certainly has his faults, which I shan't go into, but I see no issues with the way he conducts his measurements. Anyone who deems them flawed need only present their own test results in refutation or, at minimum, explain what they perceive the problem to be. The same goes for JA. Who has what degree is neither here nor there. Jud, pkane2001, wgscott and 5 others 6 2 Link to comment
