brucknerdoc
I'm using iTunes 12.6 on a MacMini running El Capitan and have always kept my music files on an external RAID volume. My old RAID died - luckily I'm backed up - so I transferred all my music files to another RAID volume. Although iTunes loads my library, the music files are reported as missing - displaying the exclamation mark for each one. I've pointed iTunes to the new volume in the preferences, but that doesn't seem to re-establish the links. Any ideas to fix the links? Thanks - Michael Link to comment

brucknerdoc
Thank you, L&L - Yes, it was that simple! I changed the name of the new RAID, but changing it back to the old name restored the iTunes links and eliminated the exclamation marks. Is there a way to rename the new volume without causing confusion in iTunes? Using the old name is a bit problematic for my setup so I'd like to have a different name for the new volume. No, but- Can make new library in iTunes (backup old lib. 1st)(start with Option key), point to new name volume, build new iT Db from scan. But loose any meta data not written back to music files (Rating, #Plays, Add Date, maybe Album Art ?) Maybe export old library db to XML, then do text edit, Find and Replace, on volume names, then re-import to .itdb ? Not sure on last step. New question-- Maybe check out DougScripts for volume rename function. All I got. Happy you have music now anyway. Link to comment
