I'm surprised that the fabled "Detroit Mix" gets just a passing nod here. Gaye reportedly approved this mix only to find that Gordy (in LA)  had the last word after all, making several significant changes in the final mix. Gaye's version has a lighter, jazzier vibe (with extended percussion) and is well-worth hearing. Thanks for giving attention to this classic title.

I have the MoFi SACD and I love it. And for the ultra-nerds: Members at the Steve Hoffman forum have compared this to the japanese SHM-SACD that uses the same mastering. General agreement was that the japanese version sounded even better.
