sphinxsix Report post #153 Posted February 17 I don't think owls have been mentioned on this thread. How come.? Some facts about these birds whose faces are actually ears (!) Did you know that many owls have asymmetrical ear holes (one higher than the other).? Why are their eyes symmetrical then.? And most importantly - what's their perception of a soundstage.?! One more thing as for their asymmetrical ear holes - imagine asymmetrical headphones for owls. Confused Report post #160 Posted February 23 Or maybe a live version? Or maybe with a smaller guitar and real live birds? (this is a must watch video, by far my favorite of the lot.) sphinxsix Report post #163 Posted February 27 Flam! Blam! David Fiuczynski draws an inspiration for his microtonal music from bird song and dedicates the composition to Olivier Messiaen! As a bonus - Fiuczynski's performance of Mahavishnu Orchestra's 'Birds of Fire'. sphinxsix Report post #169 Posted April 18 I have to proudly announce that my ambition that this thread becomes the biggest resource on birds-related music on the internet has been fulfilled long ago. For me personally, the unquestionable king of bird music in the field of classical music is Messiaen. A honorable mention goes to Rautavaara for his fantastic Cantus Arcticus. IMHO every bird jazz fan will appreciate the Dave Holland's 'Conference of the Birds' album. As for pop/rock for me personally, the biggest discovery were the Thrashmen with their superhit 'Bird is the Word'. But I hope this is not the end! Every time you hear a bird song (or instrumental piece..) please remember that there are people observing this thread who are hungry for new, unknown to them bird music and post it! Too much talk. I will let the music speak for itself. One more thing - today in the very center of Leiden (NL) where I live a flock of approximately 10 bright green birds flew right above my head. Happened very unexpectedly and quickly but I'm pretty sure these were parrots. If someone can explain it - please let me know.. 2 christopher3393 and Hugo9000 reacted to this The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. Hugo9000 Report post #170 Posted April 18 The reconnaissance mission of the parrot flock is potentially alarming. They have noted that this thread makes repeated references to "bird song," while most examples are wordless, and thus not "song"--they may feel that this is discriminatory against them as the most famous group of birds actually capable of using human language and thus "song" in a human sense. Now that they have found the originator of this thread, their next mission may well involve 'bombing' runs, so be alert. On the other hand, ravens may be recruited as ninjas, so you'd never see them coming. If you hear a cry of "nevermore," I'd suggest taking the warning seriously. 2 Confused and christopher3393 reacted to this 请教别人一次是5分钟的傻子,从不请教别人是一辈子的傻子 "I know I chatter on far too much...but if you only knew how many things I want to say and don't, you'd give me some credit!" -Anne of Green Gables
